Howard Stern?

so... do you love Stern? hate him? indifferent?

i think he's hilarious- been listening to his show for years. yeah, he can be a jerk, and i don't love the whole porno/stripper aspect of the show (mostly i just find it kinda boring!). but his interviews of celebs are fantastic, and i love when he comments on politics/current events....

what do you all think?

I don't really care for his show, not because it's "offensive" or anything like that, because I'm personally not offended by the content. It's just not something that really appeals to me, personally. But I did like in that movie how he'd stick it to the censors (although I do wish that, instead of recently deciding to go to Sirius, he'd stick around and use the money he most definitely has to take the FCC to the Supreme Court and fight this whole battle there). He's perfectly entitled to say/do what he wishes on his show. If you don't like it, simply change the station.

good point!

i don't know about the whole sirius move, either... i think he was fed up with having to deal with censors- he felt like it was a bit of a "witch hunt" directed towards him... he thinks that by moving to sirius, he will help to change the entire structure of radio as we know it. i guess we'll see if he's successful...

thanks for your post, angela!

"If you don't like it, change the station."

That's exactly what I do. Everytime I come across his show on the air, my brain starts feeling like it is being turned to mush.

I don't like the porn/ stripper stuff, but I do sort of enjoy the relationships on the crew and when celebrities go on there. I just think it's strange when people get all riled up about that show, to me it's pure schtick and Howard is basically an insecure mess I lost interest in the show and hardly listen now.

My weird Howard related moment-when I went to a Vote For Change concert, I passed Gary Dell'Abate on the street when I was walking from my hotel. He looked at me like I was going to ask him for an autograph or something..he's a Bruce fan, I never saw him at the concert.

I did like the Private Parts movie, it was sort of cute. Too bad his marriage ended..

Thanks . It's nice to see others do just that, because for a while there I was getting worried that people were forgetting they had that option, LOL .

Oh, yeah, I understand why he's moving there. I just wish he'd find a way to fight to get whatever problems censors and regular radio have fixed without moving to another type of radio. But yeah, we'll see what happens.

Aside from the strippers, I like the show. Especially Artie.

Artie Lange rules!

FIRE!!!!!

On a sad note, we lost the Stern show here about three weeks ago over a contract dispute. I have to wait til January to hear him again, aside from the E-show...

yes, artie is AWESOME and CRAZY! love him. there is a hilarious E! show when they were in Vegas last year, and Artie was wasted, and had to be taken back to his hotel room in a wheel chair, and then he kept walking into walls and falling over the couch... he's really great- i sincerely hope that they play up his alcohol abuse though... would hate for something bad to happen to him.

that's too bad you lost the show. i don't know what i'd do w/out my morning Stern fix- it really puts me in a good mood. but at least you'll get him back in January- and the show will probably be better than ever on satellite. and the E! show is usually really great- Gary in a Birka/Beekeeper's helmet is just too funny...

I was thinking about some of my favorite things on the show

one was when Gary made that tape for his girlfriend years ago that they dredged up and kept playing over and over, that was funny

I also loved when Howard read that letter Kathie Lee Gifford wrote to him when he announced his separation, how could she have not realized he would read it on the air?

I remember once when Howard was talking about being at a party w/ Bono and Yoko Ono, he was convinced they were huddled in the corner talking about him

Stuttering John made me laugh too

For some strange reason I always remember turning that show on on 9/11, it was strange

oh yes, i definitely remember the Gary videotape that he sent to his girlfriend... i think they dig that thing up about once a year! it's pretty freaking hilarious...

and i hear you about the 9/11 thing- howard stern is actually how i learned that something major was happeneing. i was getting dressed for work, listening to stern, and all of a sudden he starts talking about how a plane has hit the WTC... i immediate ran into the living room and turned the TV on...
