How do you stop this?

I have tried every frigging filter I can on my hotmail inbox to stop spam getting through. I stop a lot of it, and most gets sent to the junk box where I just empty it out every so often. I know I cant stop that as someone a while ago posted about passport and hotmail or some other company did some buy out and reset the filters for junk mail so some got through...or something...

But my problem is now I am getting this annoying freaking porn shit in my inbox because some dead shit has discovered a way to send their porn vile so the address mirrors your own account name. So in other words I get messages from angelaharlem@hotmail.com with the topic 'Tight Teen *****'. I cannot block it, I cannot track it. If I open it, it has the from - my account name, reply to - my account name.

The best solution is to start a new account, but after finally blocking the maximum number I can, which is only 250 email addresses, I realised just how much of a pain in the ass this would be as so many people and important, or wanted emails go to this account.

I guess though, there is no way to stop these mirrored addresses getting through is there?

I've never had a mirrored address before...

but I've had to change my email because I got on several less than desirable mailing lists.

I tried complaining, but it did no use.

btw this was with my isp mail....

I don't know how to stop the junk-mail, but every account I've had with hotmail got flooded with spam no matter what I did so I changed to Yahoo! mail which has a great junk mail filter and seems to get much less junk mail to think about.

i am having this exact problem. i apparently keep sending naked lolitas to myself. i hate it when that happens. it's weird that you should write this because i was just bitching about it yesterday to someone.

damn porn assholes. it seriously makes me crazy.

I've blocked so many addresses that I can block anymore. I think it said I reached my 250 limit?!?!? I was thinking of changing from Hotmail too, but I've had this address forever and I'm resisting change. Perhaps soon.

I changed my junk mail filter setting from High to Exclusive. I didn't realize that Exclusive only let stuff from you Safe List and you contacts list go to your Inbox. We'll see if this makes it better.

Unfortunately I don't think there is a way to completely stop spam...I'm so sick of getting e-mail messages that say "enlarg your **** by inches" or "see Britney Spears **** ****" I have my junk mail filter turned on too, which does send most of it to my junk mail box. But it's still a pain, because some messages from people you know, who are not on your "safe list" get inadvertantly put in the junk mail box so you still have to search through the messages before you delete them to make sure you don't miss one.

I have even received e-mail messages more "spam" saying "STOP SPAM NOW!" LOL! I've never looked into it tho, cuz there's probably a fee you have to pay to stop it.

There was a thread that was about this. I remember some one said that on one of the options msn and went and set it to allow your email to be open to lists. You have to go and uncheck it but it does only so much good becuase your addy is already out there. I had to go and uncheck it and I still get stuff but not nearly as much as I did get. I really wanna change my addy but I have had it for so long and it has history and it is has a U2 relations in the name of it. I could try to go get like ghetofabu. that would be funny.

That's your best bet if you want to stick with Hotmail. I've had my address so long, I don't think I can part with it! I have mine set to exclusive, and I check my junk mail to make sure I'm not getting E-mail from an address that I don't have in my address book or in my safe list, which has happened only a few times, but I'ts nice to have it all seperated anyways, I know where the important stuff is.

I've just changed my e-mail address because of all these spam. Now I have to think how to tell all of my friends about my new e-mail addy.

Christiana, if all your friends' addresses are in your address book in hotmail (and I think with most email accounts), there is a way that you can set it up to mail them as a list and mail them all at one time if you want to notify them, without having to write to each of them individually. Dunno if that's what you meant tho

Stoopid hotmail. Thanks for replying guys. I didnt think there was anything I could do. I have it set to exclusive on the filter, but then these porn mails started coming through from ME and I just had a large woe moment. Actually I was very pissed. But thats what you get for free email I guess.

Yep, I know about that ABEL... but the problem is those I didn't save their email address in my address book... I think I have to wait until they write back. Thanks anyway.
