most recently threads about covers have been about those that are as good, or better than the originals. why not we enjoy covers that suck?

here are my nominations:

sixpence none the richer - don't dream it's over
paul young - don't dream it's over
paul young - love will tear us apart
placebo - bigmouth strikes again
t.a.t.u. - how soon is now (i do like some of their other stuff though)
orgy - blue monday
third eye blind - i will follow
third eye blind - train in vain
annie lennox - train in vain
avril lavigne - chop suey (ok, maybe not, it was funny)
pearl jam - last kiss (it was good the first two times)

got anymore?

you don't like Last Kiss? I think it's awesome
Oh...but here's the DOOZY of all bad covers....I don't think anyone will beat this one...
William Shatner (yes you're reading right...William Shatner) :der:
....doing Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds.

Bad is an understatement.

okay, i've got a couple. my least favourite cover from my favourite bands:

duran duran: 911 is a joke (originally done by public enemy)
japan: all tomorrow's parties (originally done by velvet underground)
U2: fortunate son (originally done by creedence clearwater revival)

And Paint It Black (right on Zoney)... it was ok, but I think that most covered songs do not hold true to the original... Either that or they don't expand the boundaries of the song.

I remember doing this thread a few months back. And the crap is truly rising to the top... lot's of bad cover songs . It makes the good ones look better (eg. All Along The Watchtower- jimi... good stuff).

I only heard it a few times, but there is a terrible pop-techno-bubble gum cover of a Bryan Adams song. I can't remember which song, but it was awful. You know, maybe it was a Journey song... :der:

My memory has really been bad lately!

I haven't heard it...but what about his "version" of "Rocket Man"?

That was bad...whoo boy, was it bad...

And really, really weird as well.

Another one I don't care for-Guns & Roses' version of "Live and Let Die". Normally I like their covers of songs (particularly "Sympathy For The Devil"), but that one was just...eh.

I've never heard this "Hallejuah" song you guys are talking about.

Angela

It's found on Tower of Song: The Songs of Leonard Cohen.

I actually haven't listened to it since it was first released in 1995! Maybe it isn't as bad as I remember. I should give it another listen for sure.
