I didn't know where to post this but since I need a song I figured here would be best. :) We have to make a movie kind of presentation using a poem and a song that goes with the poem and images that go with it. We are using this poem and we are probably going to use MLK or someone like him as the images...someone who went their own way and never looked back, made a difference, that kind of thing. I need a song that goes with this theme! I thought it would be so simple but I can't think of one! Any help would be greatly appreciated!! It can be by any artist, any genre, just no cursing or anything.

The Road not Taken
Robert Frost

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference

Pick an instrumental song. :)

Seriously. Think about it. No words, so it won't conflict with the poem, yet the music can have the proper feel/mood.

Unfortunately I can't think of any fitting songs right now....

Whoops, forgot to say that it has to have lyrics!

That would be great if we could. Thanks though!

I'm thinking maybe Walk On

Ah. Well that sucks. But's how's that supposed to works...a poem, and then a song with different lyrics? Isn't that going to be really confusing? Or does th song just have to reflect the mood of the poem?

I'd use "My Way" by Frank Sinatra, which I think would work great with the poem, but maybe not so great with MLK. Besides I like that song. :)

(plus my post bumps it back up the page and you might get other responses. )

Songs that come to mind:

Last Night of Earth - U2
Stand By Me - Oasis
Everything's Not Lost - Coldplay
Staring at the Sun - U2
Think for Yourself - The Beatles
Turn! Turn! Turn - The Byrds
I Still Haven't Found... - U2
Streets - U2
A Sort of Homecoming - U2 (this would probably be my choice)

I'm thinking:

The Long and Winding Road by the Beatles
The Wanderer by U2
Walk of Life by Dire Straits
and Tuesday's Gone by Lynyrd Skynyrd

would all be pretty sweet to use. I used Tuesday's Gone for a very similar project and it worked perfectly (I did The Seven Ages of Man by Shakespeare)

good luck w/ the project sami.

Thanks guys!!

I thought of Long and Winding Road too. I'll have to look up the rest of the songs I haven't heard. :reject:

I think we might go with Walk On though...my friends like it.
