Okay, so whenever a new Dropkick Murphys, Rufus Wainwright, Ben Folds, or anyone else with whom I have an obsession releases another album, I'm inclined to create a new compilation album for them. So. This would be the third or so incarnation of my Dropkick Murphys mix, which started with a one-discer aruodn the time of Blackout. By the time The Warrior's Code was released, I had to expand to two discs, but there was a lot of filler in the form of covers from the singles collections. Now that they're 6 studio albums, a live album, and loads of singles, eps, and splits into their career, I'm a bit more confident in the mixes I'm making. While there are still probably way too many tracks from each album (their songs are so short, ya know?) for most people, I love these new discs.

So my general idea for this thread is to have a place to post your homemade compilations for your favorite acts - tracklists, artwork, whatever you feel like. So, without further ado, my new Dropkick Murphys comp.

Reading over that list, I need to redo it... mainly the last disc.

I just love how desperate Bowie was to get on the radio pre-Ziggy. It's such a terribly song that it's awesome. The definition of Awesomely Bad.

Bowie could do no wrong from 1971 -> 1986.

(I'm not a huge fan of The Man Who Sold the World as an album, but the song is nice)

Sorry. It's a joke.

After the wonderment of Life on Mars there's this annoying little song for two year olds. "But I'm not much cop at punching other people's dads." Shut up!

Holy shit it's great to see you!

yeah, I never agree with myself after. God Willing is good, I'm regretting not putting Tomorrow's Industry on a little more, though. And I've never been disappointed by anything trad. they've done. What I'm really tempted to do is reburn it with Tomorrow's Industry in place of Shattered or something else, and with the reworking of "Forever" instead of the original. I love the arrangement, but I hate that Ken's voice is so so so high in the mix and you can barely hear Al. Which may be the clincher for me. Have you heard the new version of "Forever"? It's just a studio version of the live arrangment they've been the past few year's.

My overall impression of the album is quite good - there are no songs that I dislike, really, but at the same time it doesn't leave me with the feeling the last three albums have. That said, "State of Massachusetts" kicks "Sunshine Highway" in the balls as a lead single, and I loved SH. It'll be interesting to see what stuff survives the setlist over the next few years. I'm still kicking myself over not seeing them with FM 2 weeks ago in Philly.
