For me it's the biggest drinking night of the year: Open Bar and I'm not a drinker! Do you do anything fun for your holiday office parties? Discuss...

I work in a safety office so no alcohol. We had a quick meal (can you say "shovel") at the casino and then back to the office they went (Im on leave at the moment)

We have a breakfast party and the strongest stuff we drink is our choice of caffeinated beverage. You can't go to the library and do inventory after you've been drinking. Library inventory is very tough, it requires alot of physical effort and organized thinking. I'm not known for my organization skills under optimal circumstances. If I drank anything stronger than coffee beforehand it'd be disastrous. :yikes: :yikes:

BAW's my party and I'm her's....since we have our own business with no other employees, we party ourselves...its more fun that way...

For instance, I worked late last night...and when I came in, my BAW welcomed me at the door with a nice bottle of Cabernet....

don't know of any other co-worker that can pull that off!

I just had my office Christmas party, and the same thing happens every year. Since the company pays for the alcohol, people overindulge, and it inevitably ends up with someone making an ass of themselves.

I think the thing is, it may be a social event, but you still have to return to work with these people, so the best thing to do is to treat it as a work function and behave accordingly.

I never really liked then much myself. I just always found them really uncomfortable. Sometimes the food was really good though. :)

One of my jobs has a huge party, but I didn't go. From the sound of it...I definitely should have gone.

Crap.

I work in a wee college department and we didn't even get our usual trip to a resturant--which I liked in the past, except they rarely picked good food. This year, because we have some particularly lazy employees, we just got ok takeout, a tiny cake, warm soda and an unfunny gift exchange. All the other offices did theirs on Friday and from the sounds of it, had a great time. Next year I'm calling in sick.

I would love a party with drunk people and supply closet hook-ups! How amusing!

We had a catered appetizer dinner

And a great gift exchange with an appearance from Santa. I have been a good girl this year and got a Starbucks mug and a giftcard :)

My boss took us all out to dinner at a very nice Italian restaurant. A couple of us had wine, and we all had dessert.

That was for my actual office, but our actual group (who work in a building across the street and who we never see) had a bowling party last Monday, but we're too damn flooded at this time of year and couldn't take an afternoon off to go bowling.

Our company Christmas party was pretty weak. They gave me freaking 2 Donny Osmond CDs at it. You dont get much weaker than that!!!

We did get bonuses though.

Oh god why Donny Osmond  I didn't even know he had 2 cds!

We usually get treated to lunch at a nice restaurant, but this year we are having it catered in. I just found out Friday what they are bringing in - sandwiches from Subway. I guess profits aren't too good this year.

I like to call my office holiday party Bitch Slapfest 2004 because essentially that's what it was after it happened...nothing but a bunch of greedy people disrespectfully criticizing the gifts that they got while their Secret Santa was in the room (which is why I never participate in the gift exchange)...:tsk:

We had to pay $13 for mystery meat and no alcohol was served. I understand in retrospect why there was no alcohol--if people were that distasteful while sober, I can't imagine what they would be like drunk.

So much for the Christams spirit.

We get a couple of executive boxes and go see an NBA or NHL game, with catered food.
