If it was daytime I'd suggest you'd rent a row boat on the university lake. but it's night time and I don't even know if they still rent boats at this time of year.

If you've got no money, go and see if they'll give you a job at the lakeside (arts centre / theatre on campus - building with the big green roof). They often need stewards, especially in the run up to christmas. (I used to work there)
