Coldplay are number 1 in 28 countries, and their album sold 470,000 copies in it's first week in the UK which is the 3rd fastest selling album of all time. I myself think the album deserves to be this successful but I know a lot of people using this forum have said they are massively overrated, seems the majority of the population think differently. Also there album went straight to number 1 in the USA and is the first album by a British artist to be number 1 in the UK and USA simultaneously since Radioheads Kid A in 2000.:wink:

Phew!! So Coldplay didn't beat U2 afterall - I really thought they might.

Final, 1st week, result for Coldplay at Mediatraffic :

1,643,000 sold + 32K from Japan last week + 5% extra sales = around 1,755,000 copies of X&Y sold, worldwide, in '1st week'.
