Yes I agree with the gist of what you are saying, which is why I'm not into contemporary rock as much anymore. Why, just last week I was listening to Sgt Pepper and it sounded as fresh as anything (even though its critics, and there are some, say that it is an over-produced and dated record). That was both pleasurable and disappointing to discover.
