Obscured By Clouds...
Today is the first day, for what is probably gonna be the biggest celebrity trial of the century, and likely to last for a good few months. All eyes will be on this case, from the 'gossip-hungry' media, to the most loyal of Jacksons fans.

Michael Jackson was a huge idol of mine in the early 90's, and I very much still enjoy listening to him today.
I strongly believe he is innocent of the charges he is facing. That of Child Molestation.
I of course, am not ignorant enough to say that he should be allowed to sleep in the same bed as a minor, and I do fully expect, that if he is at the end of this trial, acquitted and vindicated, then the people closest to Michael, his family and advisors in particular, will make sure that, in his own words "he never allows himself to be put in such a vulnerable position again".

The 1st and most important way of ensuring this, would be the closure of his park in his Neverland home. It would be something he himself wouldn't like to see happen, but keeping the ranch entirely for him, and no outsiders would be a huge step in the right direction.
It's not admitting any guilt, as (hopefully) he would have been found not guilty. It would just be the right thing to do, so there is no way anyone can have even the smallest thing to say against him.

I really do feel that Jackson's childhood, or the little of it he had, plays a huge part of how he is today.
Not being around ppl his own age when growing up, and going though the things other children were, plus having the kind of dominating father at home, effected him greatly as he grew older and became an adult. So much so, that he realised he prefered to be in the company of children, and be able to see them enjoy things in their youth, the way he was never able to.

He grew up in a very small home in Indiana, where he was made to share a bed with his brother(s).
This could go a little way in explaining why Michael thinks it is ok in sharing his bed with a minor.
Of course, it is not. No matter WHO you are. But being as naive, as I believe he is, he thinks there is nothing wrong with this, "the most loving that you can do with somebody".

I will be following the trial as closely as I can, and will be hoping for the verdict that I think in my heart is correct.

Thanks for reading - and post your comments here too, good or bad - i'm not easily offended.

This isn't the first time he's been accused of this, and the last time (1990s) he settled out of court for a very large sum of money. I think it's fairly likely that there are large elements of truth in these accusations.

But yeah, I like a lot of his songs from the 1980s.

I really don't think he is naive - he is a grown man that has toured the world and seen the best and worst in humanity. However, he lives in his own LaLa land most of the time, and is known to be heavily medicated. He simply is not in touch with reality.

They have found his prints and the accuser's prints on the same porn magazine. His two main accusers basically have eerily same stories that they are putting forth. How do you explain that?

Sure, the accuser's parents are a real question mark, and it's hard to account for motives here.

I am on the fence about what he did - but I do believe Jacko is freakish, and he abhorrant appearance is only the tip of it.

I don't know...of course he is weird in many ways but also naive!! (my professor - who is btw a really cool and smart guy - keeps saying that Michael is the only grown-up who can be as naive as children ;) ). However, the media is blowing it up out of proportion!

the man doesn't need jail. he needs a psychiatric intervention and custodial care thereafter.

Whether he gave himself mercury poisoning with the skin whitening crap he was using (vitiligo, my arse. I know people with vitiligo. it doesn't look like him.) and that's why he just gets progressively stranger and out of touch with reality is something I'd place money on -- the phrase "mad as a hatter" comes from exposure to mercury fumes -- but prison isn't going to do anything but make that final snap into complete psychosis.

The media loves to demonize him. Don't believe everything you read.

Something in me just wonders what in the hell happened to the guy I thought was the absolute master of cool, waayyy back in 1983. The man needs serious mental help -- I'd go so far as to say he's not competent to stand trial, right now.

He lives in a money-fueled delusion and doesn't seem to understand what goes on around him or why. That's not sanity.

Or perhaps a re-mastered Final Cut - with Jacko providing guest vocals on, hmmm, maybe 'Get Your Filthy Hands Off My Desert"!

It doesn't have to be Michael Jackson himself, I'd hope most parents wouldn't let their child spend the night at any other adult's house without supervision.

Did these indicident(s) occur after Jordan Chandler's case?

I do hope people look beyond the media and websites like the Smoking Gun as oracles of truth. These charges are in many ways worse and more serious than murder. They cannot be taken lightly and so very few people do really know what actually happened. Not us who post about it on the internet, that's for sure.

Yes Angela, they're supposed to have happened since the turn of the century.
It's just strange to me how, before the Martin Bashir Interview with Michael Jackson, the parents of this child were quite happy with all the time their son was spending at Jackson's home, and it wasnt until after it was shown on tv, that they suddenly started making all these allegations against Michael, (perhaps thinking about what the last family that did that got out of it).

The trouble is that the man is clearly mentally ill, but instead of someone doing something to help him, because of his celebrity status he's been allowed to carry on in his own little world with the fairies.

It's no wonder he's ended up like this, but how the hell he can be put on trial as if he's completely sane is beyond me.

The jacko fans compound the problem, they can't see the wood for the trees.

The whole situation is very sad. He may be one of the most famous people in the world, but I've no doubt he's also one of the loneliest.
