U2 is always trying to broaden their fan base, I'm not sure they are concerned with fans who can't afford their concert tickets and merchandise any more than people who have significant hearing loss. but I do think they like and respect many african-american artists, that's well established, also inviting Kanye West out on tour with them keeps up the appearance that they are still hip (without the hop). it'd be interesting to find out what the demographics are for attendees of Kanye West or Mary J Blige shows not connected with U2.

You also are focusing only on the attendees of concerts and sporting events. Only a fraction of the album buyers or sports fans see the event live. U2 also appreciate those that simply buy or enjoy their music.

Regarding concert ticket affordability by race, you might be surprised by the variety of genres of the musicians currently on tour (see Ticketmaster). Some people of all races simply cannot afford to attend concerts or sporting events, especially when there are so many. With an average price of $97, U2 tickets are among the least affordable.

The best seats cost $160, and it averaged out to $97. The Rolling Stones' average was $134 I believe.

Ok - thanks for rephrasing it. Several people have said yes - they do attend U2 shows, although in fewer numbers. I'm not an expert as to why or why not - at the end doesn't it come down to liking the music? I know plenty of people of all races who detest U2, and cannot understand my passion for them - that includes friends and family.

Try doing some research into the teams and cities in those areas and perhaps you'll learn something about the diversity of races that support the teams by going to the games.
