The best thing on these lists are the nominations for AMC's Mad Men. Best new show by far, one of the great pleasures of the year has been watching this show.

Other than that, nice to see love for Viggo and EP. Surprised Knocked Up couldn't pull a Best Musical/Comedy nod, or that Paul Thomas Anderson was overlooked in the director category for fucking Ridley Scott, who just pooped that film out of his ass. I agree with you guys that American Gangster ain't sayin' nuttin' new. It wasn't a bad film, but nothing awards-worthy.

Though I haven't seen the film, I'm pretty happy for Angelina Jolie, who put her heart in soul into producing and starring in A Mighty Heart, and hopefully will have another Oscar nod because of this. If you look at the other nominees here, I don't think it's a stretch that she could win a Globe.

Very nice to see Casey Affleck acknowledged as well, though I'd say no one has a snowflake's chance in hell in beating Bardem.

But the P.T. Anderson, Darjeeling/Wes Anderson, Office, Knocked Up, and Superbad snubbery is ridiculous.

(I've only see Across the Universe, which was mediocre, and Superbad/Knocked Up got butt-fucked, so I'll go with Juno before I even see it.)

Best Actor - Drama:
Daniel Day-Lewis. Why? Because he's in a movie this year

I don't know. Jolie?

Best Actor - Comedy:
My ideal choice would've been Simon Pegg for Hot Fuzz or Seth Rogen for Knocked Up, but I gotta go with John C. Reilly here.

No clue here either. Ellen Page? I don't know.

Supporting Actor:
Javier Bardem, no question.

Supporting Actress:
haven't seen I'm Not There yet, but Cate Blanchett is the balls anyway.

Best Director(s):
Joel and Ethan Coen. Hopefully this will be the year they get an Oscar. Both Andersons (Wes and P.T.) got screwed like Superbad here.

The TV nominations are a fucking joke. No Galactica or even worse, No Office apart from Carell. Pushing Daisies? Really? I'd rather see the 4400 up there. Then again, what do these awards really matter anyway? It's still better than getting a Grammy, not by much though.

I bolded the ones I'd like to see win, with the one notation that I haven't seen TWBB yet, so I can't in good conscious pick that for best pic yet over No Country, so I just highlighted both.

And yes, I did pick Casey Affleck over Bardem in the supporting catagory. For one thing, the character of Robert Ford was much more difficult to pull off successfully, and Affleck was truly wonderous in it. And two, pretty much the success of that picture depended on his performance, whereas Bardem could have still not been as wonderful as he was and the film wouldn't have been quite as hurt. If that makes sense.

Even still, it's a hell of a tough decision between those two.

Eddie Vedder Into The Wild Soundtrack

As much as I love Denzel, I have to agree that i'm not sure about his nomination. I didn't see the movie, but it seems to me that he could put out just about anything and it would get nominated these days. The Great Debators for Best Movie? I didn't see it either, but the fact that Oprah is involved really bugs me!

Not sure what to think of the other categories just yet. A little bummed that The Office wasn't nominated. And I really don't want to see Angelina Jolie win anything. Seems like a weak year for Best Actress. They'll probably give it to the old lady, Julie Christie.

Great Debaters isn't out yet, I think it's out next Friday

I never saw Jesse James, it never played anywhere near me. No Country For Old Men is at the theater I always go to but the description I read just didn't appeal to me, maybe I will rent it when it comes out on DVD. Into The Wild never played at my theater either, even though I saw the trailer there numerous times.

American Gangster is a decent movie that shouldn't win anything, s I agree with the rest of you.

Surprised about Brad Pitt, since Jesse James may have been his best work. I did like Angelina Jolie in A Mighty Heart a whole lot so maybe they can walk away 1/2 there.

Still want to see No Country for Old Men.

Living in "fly-over country"-Milwaukee, WI, some of the movies nominated haven't arrived in our local theaters. However, I really want to see "Juno," "The Savages," and "Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story." I'll probably rent some of the other nominees once they come out on DVD.

And sadly, I haven't seen some of the TV shows because I don't have cable. I'm bummed that "The Office" didn't get a best comedy show nom. And I wish my new favorite, "Chuck" would have gotten some Golden Globe love. Oh well.
