I love how the Comedy/Musical section almost always ignores the flat-out comedies.

Juno isn't a flat-out comedy, but I see what you mean.

You'd think Hot Fuzz would get a nom over Across the Universe, since it's, you know, actually good.

Fuck Juno. Nice work, though I never expected the foreign press to actually award an American indie-comedy anyway.

I still can't believe Schnabel won over the Coens, but he's an international art figure who directed a film in France, so it shouldn't have surprised.

Atonement though...wow. I guess a very American film (in setting and in theme) like No Country was just too local for them.

Yes, though it's lame that Jonny Greenwood didn't even get nominated. Unfortunately, I was worried Dario Marianelli was his main competition even before tonight's win.

Johnny Depp.........

I'm sorry about the writer's strike but I think that the idea of giving the awards at a press conference was FABULOUS!

The important thing was the awards, not who was wearing what and who came with who.

This was an AWARDS show and that's just what they did - hand out awards. It doesn't matter what the nominee was wearing, it matters that he was acknowledged for his/her talent - isn't that what really matters?

Do you know that the first academy awards were handed out at a dinner and the whole thing took half an hour? Now THAT's the way to do it.....
