Here's to hoping The Office and Little Miss Sunshine sweep

Mirren and Whitaker are shoo-ins, as are DiCaprio, The Departed, and Jennifer Hudson.

atleast IMO.

Has anyone here seen The Last King Of Scotland?

I have a feeling Babel will beat The Departed, I think Departed should win. Bobby doesn't belong there, sorry. I enjoyed it, but there has to be something better than that that deserves a nomination. I remember when the Golden Globes were considered to be a joke, now people take them seriously.

I'm pulling for LOST, Little Miss Sunshine, and The Departed. And all those connected to them.

i know!

it's, like, 35 foreign journalists/tabloid editors who vote and if nicole kidman is nominated she automatically wins.

J_NP's votes :

-Penelope

- Tough One , but I think Ultimately Smith should win

-Scorsese wins , really great job , without mention the selection of songs

Zach Braff is great on Scrubs, but he hasn't been acknowledged by the voters now, and he won't be.

It'll either be Tony Shalhoub or Steve Carell.

The Office or Earl will win best comedy, hopefully The Office.

It seems like several actors have a "lock" on their categories this year. While i'm sure they are all deserving, I hate it when there's no surprises, so I'm gonna root for the underdogs... Leo, Kate... But i do want Jennifer Hudson to win!

Can't wait to see the fashions! It starts soon!

I saw The Last King of Scotland a few months ago. Whitaker was amazing (still haven't seen Venus, so I can't say how he compares to O'Toole, who seems to be his only major competition). Forget being on the edge of your seat, when the movie finally ended I was shocked at just how hard I had shoved myself back into my seat. It was the most physically tense I've been at a movie in a long time.

Hugh Laurie :grumpy:

I hope so too :grumpy:

Either he or Kiefer Sutherland, either way it's a winner.

Lost does not deserve to win anything, it's been average at best since an amazing Season One.

Wha?

I think it was a pretty blech year for the Red Carpet. I thought there were a lot of trashy looking women...Cameron Diaz and Sienna Miller are such a mess! And women that usually look great (Cate Blanchett, Kate Winslett, Selma Hayek) looked pretty bad (Blanchett's hair was wretched, and Winslett's lipstick was rather deathlike).

On the other hand, I think Drew Barrymore looked better than she has in a long time! She's so cute, I don't know why she usually looks so dumpy at awards shows.

D'oh! I forgot the west coast has it on tape delay.

At least we get the Oscars live and get to go to bed long before midnight.

I'm hoping for a win for Helen Mirren :hyper:

She's amazing in The Queen  utterly convincing
