*Microsoft reports quarterly earnings. Company in good shape, gaming division not so much

Poor M$, Xbox360 is costing them alot of lost profits.

Only 2 somewhat newsworthy things to report as of today

News:

*Update on Nibris' title currently in production for Wii. Here are two mysterious images for the little known about Sadness
http://www.revolutionreport.com/index.php?act=articles&code=read&id=417

(These are NOT in-game graphics, obviously the first one is a photo, the second?... no clue)

*Wii "nunchuck" attatchment possibly confirmed to also be motion-sensitive (about halfway down the page)
http://revolution.ign.com/articles/703/703727p2.html

This was during a discussion IGN had with John Schappert about the new Madden NFL 2007 game that will be released on Wii.

new zelda games for systems I actually own make me excited!

and I think the Wii's motion-sensitive stuff sounds like it might be fun. I'd love like... a sword-fighting game or something that they actually give you a "sword" that you have to use... I don't know if it could do that, but if it could.. I would play it.

I wish I could provide more information as well as screen shots but unfortunately all the links I originally found have been removed. Most likely due to the fact that they were GameInformer scans in the first place. Buy the magazine if you wish to learn more about Red Steel. Or... just Wiki it!

I can't believe I just used that smiley in reference to a video game.

I actually did a DDR like exercise in Gym last year

it was like Tae-Bo + DDR, and I had to listen to the Black Eyed Peas about 10 times in a row per day, not my favorite thing.

Pure DDR though would pwn.

I'm personally incredibly excited about the new Half-Life 2 Episodes, the first of which ships June 1st. I'm hopefully getting a powerful laptop for a graduation gift in June, so I'll acctualy be able to play PC games once again. Wooo. Also can't wait to play Half-Life 2 again at maximum settings for a change.

Is anyone playing/played Kingdom Hearts 2?
Everyone I know who's played it has said it's fun and worth the time, but not as good as the original. I don't know what the game is like so I couldn't give a valid opinion on it.

I honestly don't know how Nintendo is the "kiddy" console when that game has an entire level dedicated to The Little Mermaid.

News:

*Reggie Fils-Aime plans to kick our ass and take our names with a secret "racing game" that will showcase how the new Wii-mote (hur hur hur) works
http://www.revolutionreport.com/articles/read/418

Could we possibly see a Wii version of these past Nintendo racing games?
-Mario Kart
-Waverace
-FZero

They should just give you a Gamecube when you buy The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess :hyper:

God Bless Nintendo

Has anyone mentioned Superpower 2 yet? I heard about this yesterday and desperately want to play it. I want to be some tiny little island which takes over the world.

:woe:

I bought a Gamecube and the Zelda Windwaker game about a month ago. I haven't played it yet. I've been too busy playing Kingdom Hearts 2:drool:

Does anyone ever understand the rivalry between the different consoles fanboys and girls?

I never quite got it, I have a Gamecube, PS2 and a Dreamcast, I had a PS1 and and N64, I had a Snes and Master System....

Nintendo have always produced quality fun, games and the odd amazing weird title...Playstations just have so many games to choose from that you will always find something you like, plus as a big RPG fan it always has the most.

Any rivalry between owners of different systems just seems silly to me...get both, they all generally have excellent games for either system.....i just judge quality of games not on who makes the system.

That said I dislike the xbox/xbox 360...a name I find personally worse than Wii:wink: Game selection for either system is pretty poor......have microsoft got more Japanese developers involved with the xbox?

:tsk: You're missing out! Hurry up with KH2. Wind Waker is such an underrated game. Everyone dogged on it because of the graphics but I thought the game was beautifully designed. Oh well.

Ah, fanboys. Why do they exist, and what is their purpose? :hmm:

Well I guess the best way to describe why there is such virile angst between fanboys is to look at other pastimes such as sports and reality tv. In both scenarios there is a heated sense of competition. I think to say that one person would feel better if they just bought all systems, is like saying one person would enjoy sports more if they rooted for all teams. No one likes to be a fan of everything, it's boring. And gamers, as we all know, hate when things are boring. It makes things alot more interesting and gives people a rush of energy and excitement to argue for your side, and why you're #1.

I would suggest that perhaps companies benifit from fanboyism. Gamers do too. If each company is trying to knab certain groups from their core beliefs in order to bring them over to their product instead, it leads to better results in product design and quality. When fanboys cease to be loyal to one company, and everyone buys all consoles and handhelds, no innovation or evolution will occur in the gaming industry. Each company will just put out the same product again and again with little variation  because there will be no group of fanatics to say "my console is better than yours" "these games are better than those"

Some people can take it too far, and act really immature about it. But in general, I think fanboyism is what drives the industry upward in order to see whos camp can be top dog. Everyone loves a good fight, and that's what draws fanboys to battle constantly with the opposition. We all wanna see who will win in the end, so we buy more software and hardware for the team we love. In the end, no one will win besides the businesses that get our money. It's a neverending war.

posting this cuz cattlehere made me

this past weekend i bought a couple games for my ds. i've played them all a little bit but so far all three are a lot of fun. what'd i get?
  • animal crossing: wild world
  • nintendogs
  • burnout legends
i already had animal crossing for gamecube and loved it, so i knew i'd probably like this one, and i do. burnout i had for xbox so despite its mixed reviews, i got it anyway since i liked it for xbox. i still think it's good. any game that gives you points for running cars off the road is  in my book. and nintendogs i just thought was too cute to not get.

OMG I'm a post whore in this thread!

Some new little tidbits to report, but nothing too serious.

We unaminously agreed though that Hugh Jackman should be Snake...he just looks like him in my head anyway:p

The colonel should also be Anthony Hopkins...Ocelot, Sean Connery, Liquid, Christian Bale...Solidus is a bit up for debate though hmmm

I'm glad to hear Wind Waker is a good game. Are there any other GameCube games worth buying?
