I cannot imagine how they would make this game into a movie.

With a crappy director, terrible script, and B-list actors, of course.

You can add Halo and Metal Gear Solid to the list of upcoming video game movies that will undoubtedly suck.

And since I can never post without a little bit of random news. Here's some more Wii rumors. Speculate away!

*Preorders already being taken for hardware and software? Could this hint at pricing and release dates?
http://revolution.ign.com/articles/709/709636p1.html

*New Satoru Iwata interview. Lot's of fun info and sneaky answers, a really good read
http://biz.gamedaily.com/industry/feature/?id=12748&rp=1

Just look at the history of Nintendo consoles for the price? Could the $200 price point be a reality?

Surely your overlooking such great video game to movie translations as Super Mario Brothers and Street Fighter

I've just been playing the demo for Rise of Legends and I am really enjoying the steampunk elements, first decent fix since Arcanum.

I hope the Wii comes out in October, because I'm planning on getting it for my son for Christmas. I hoping the $200.00 price tag is reality.

I'm afraid you are right. Why does Hollywood have to do this. Can't they come up with original ideas for movies anymore? T.V. shows and games into movies equals disaster.

Are there any Final Fantasy games that aren't turn based?
There are actually 2 Final Fantasy games that I own which stray away from the typical JRPG approach of turn-based action.

Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicals (GC) which is a real-time action rpg
http://media.cube.ign.com/media/479/479090/vids_1.html

Final Fantasy Tactics Advance (GBA) which is a turn-based strategy game
http://media.gameboy.ign.com/media/480/480116/vids_1.html

I enjoyed both, but you should check out some of the videos in the links to see if you would like those type of gameplay elements. Other than the 2 I have played?

Final Fantasy VII: Dirge Of Cerberus (PS2) which looks to be a third-person shooter ala Resident Evil
http://media.ps2.ign.com/media/693/693672/vids_1.html

The Warcraft storyline has been ongoing since 1994..it is ready-made for a film if it is done right, but they will have to get someone to direct that has some ability and passion for the material, and to create a different tone to the recent LOTR films to avoid copycat comparisons..I really hope they avoid a cheapo approach though, since I love the series.

For Azeroth!

Seriously though, the original story of orcs coming through a portal and invading a medievil kingdom would work great on film.

Most media people think they're doing the public a service by catering everything to sixth graders.

Of course, for all of us with an intellect of a seventh grader or higher, we're out of luck.

Thank you!!!

Add the upcoming "Final Fantasy XII" and even "XII" to that list too. Square-Enix was on record, after FFX, that the developers were officially bored with turn-based games. Their work since then certainly proves that.

Is FF: Crystal Chronicles any good? I just remember some mixed reviews about it.

^It's somewhat slow moving, I wish the characters ran a little faster and casted magic a little quicker too. It currently has an 80% average at gamerankings.com Just check out the movies in the link I posted to get a feel of what the gameplay is like.

Wow gaming has been slow. Nothing hugely important has been going on lately. Only a few things I noticed.

-The first PS3's will be shipped to Europe, but still launched on the Nov. 17th date that the US has.

-"Star Fox DS" has been renamed Star Fox Command. Not sure if that's a hint about the gameplay or what.

-Rumors going around that the Wiimote could also work as a mic, headset, and phone. I bet it chops your onions for you too
http://www.gamespot.com/pages/news/show_blog_entry.php?topic_id=24657269

-Oh and here's a really cool HD video of the fishing elements in Twilight Princess. Just to show how the graphics are coming along. They look amazing.

Few tidbits here and there. Nothing too huge unless you're interested in these type of things.

Oh and here are pictures in case you don't feel like clicking the links to the console sizes. This seems to be pretty accurate.

I am hardcore into old-school gaming right now. I really don't have that much desire to go dumping $300 for a PS3 or an XBox/XBox360(hate XBox anyway) or a Wii. I never even purchased a Gamecube or an original XBox. I only just this past January purchased a PS2, and that wasn't retail, it was from a relative. There just aren't enough really great games anymore to warrant spending that kind of money, imo.

But emulation is a godsend. I have every single NES, SNES, Genesis, and 32X game ever on my computer(which I can hook to a TV, and play with an SNES controller and Super Smartjoy USB adapter). I will soon have every N64 game on my computer as well...gotta get that N64 Smartjoy USB adaptor so I can hook an N64 controller to my computer.

Sooooooo many great games to play on First-Generation(NES, Atari), Second Generation(SNES, Genesis/32X, Turbo-Grafx 16), and Third Generation(N64, Playstation, Saturn) consoles.

And I still say that Sega's Dreamcast is still the best fourth-generation console. I just acquired Sonic Adventure through 'alternate' sources.

Old-School Gaming
