"Free Bird" by Lynyrd Skynyrd came on the radio while i was driving about a week and a half ago. It occurred to me that the extended instrumental part reminded me of U2's "Exit." The intensity is similar, and i realized that another connection in my mind is that "Free Bird" is playing in the background of "Forrest Gump" at the part where Jenny almost jumps off the building--so relating the death theme in "Exit" too. Maybe one reason that sticks out to me is that i myself have had suicidal thoughts in the past...i don't know. (kind of as a side note to that: if you pay close attention during that movie, you may notice there's kind of repeating theme of birds/flying/suicide/Jenny wanting to get away. i think the feather floating in the wind might relate to it, too.)

so...any thoughts? alternatively, what songs remind you of other songs by another artist?
