God Save The Queen

Today would have been Freddie's 60 birthday if he didn't pass away in 1991 :(

Arguably the greatest frontman of all time and possibly the greatest voice in Rock's music ever

We will never have other Freddie Mercury.

Rest In peace Freddie

1946 - 1991

"FREDDIE MERCURY - LOVER OF LIFE SINGER OF SONGS
Double CD, Double DVD and Video Download Albums Released Today

While Freddie Mercury dedicated the major part of his creative energies to the all-consuming project that was Queen, such was his appetite for music that not all of it could be fulfilled within the parameters of Queen. At these times Freddie ventured off into the uncharted new world of solo projects.

This special edition, released today September 4, 2006 to celebrate his 60th anniversary, 'The Very Best of Freddie Mercury Solo', which includes a bonus CD of rare or unheard tracks, highlights those periods when Freddie channelled his inexhaustible love of music into new musical encounters, some intensely personal projects, others providing the excitement of collaborations with writers and performers who fired his imagination. CD1 includes the the huge hits singles 'In My Defence', 'The Great Pretender', 'Living On My Own', 'Made In Heaven', 'Love Kills' and 'Barcelona'.

On the same day, EMI will also release the 2-DVD set, Freddie Mercury: Lover of Life, Singer of Songs that features The Untold Story, a collection of his solo videos and his very last interview. iTunes will also be making the Freddie Mercury Video Album I available for download. In addition, EMI Music will publish the book 'Freddie Mercury: A Life, In His Own Words' on Monday 11th September and issue 'Freddie Mercury - Talking To David Wigg' (Audio Book) exclusively for download on www.queenonline.com on 13th September.

On Tuesday 5th September, Freddie's actual birthday, there are to be official Birthday parties across the world in London, Cape Town and Cologne at very special performances of the smash hit musical We Will Rock You. Those attending have been encouraged to come in fancy dress for a night of one-off script features, red carpets, competitions, special Freddie Mercury moments, Mercury Phoenix Trust collections, official mementos and special guests!

:( There'll never be anyone else like Freddie. He had so much charisma on stage, and he's probably my favorite singer ever. Besides that, though, he was also a great songwriter (along with the other members of Queen of course). You can't forget that. How he looked and acted wouldn't have mattered if the songs sucked.
