Any fan of rock music is familiar with all of the mythology that surrounds the rock music of the 60s and early 70s, and with the way so many of us romanticize the rock music of the period. I am just curious to know what those of you who actually lived through the that era(say, 1963-1973) think: Was living in that era, with

an experience that lives up to the mythology surrounding said era, or was it not all it's cracked up to be?

Much of it was myth--but the grand participation in the myth is what made it special. I remember it with fondness.
