Pretty kitties, u2shamrock! :cute:

Sophie looks like quite the attention hog they way she's posing for the camera. So many of my cats give me this look of horror and run away when I bring out my camera.

I particularly love this picture.

And thanks indra and LivLuvAndBootlegMusic!

The other day I was skipping class to take an afternoon nap, only to look up and see Beckham pawing at my window to get in. I opened the window and let him in. Beckham is indoor-only; I still have no idea what that was all about!

I'm looking for some advice...

I'll be moving in about a month or so. My cats don't do well with change. They freak out when I get my laundry together to go to the laundromat. Last time I moved, Boris freaked out in her cat carrier and made a rather unpleasant mess. Gordon cried for hours. I'm wondering if anyone has tried any of those products that are supposed to comfort cats in stressful situations. There's one called Feliway...do they work? Any recommendations?

Yep. I'm using the Feliway diffuser now as a general thing (I have 10 cats and they tend to get into spats. I figure they need all the calming they can get. I moved last September and put the diffuser up the day before I brought the cats to the new place so it would be most apt to work well.

They were definitely stressed (a couple stayed in the cat carriers for most of the first day ever though the doors were open, and it took a good week before they were eating as they usually do), but they didn't seem as stressed as I thought they would be and have adapted really well.

Before I moved I asked my vet about the products and she said they use them in the kennel area, especially on surgery days, and noticed a big (positive) difference in the way the cats reacted. They had a lot fewer terrified kitties.

Your cats are going to be stressed, even with these products (although they really do seem to help), so allow them a while to get acclimated in their new digs before you expect them to act normally.

Good luck!

Yikes! Good luck with the move!

This fall, Posh and Beckham will have to move and be in the car for over 24 hours :yikes:

u2shamrock I love your kitties!!! :cute: :cute:

Babydoll do you have a cat? :eyebrow:

U2dork,
Your kitties sound like my Saki. I am deathly afraid to ever move because I know he would be so completely freaked out. You could get the Feliway and also something called Bach's Rescue Remedy. I think you can get that online. It's also supposed to calm one in stressful situations. I would also move the cats LAST and make sure they have a quiet room set up in the new place with all or most of their familiar things before putting them in there. Covering their carriers with a towel or blanket might help. Saki does better in car rides that way.

Thanks. I'll have to look into those.

I've moved a few times since I've had the 'kids' but each move seems to get harder on Boris. I'm afraid she'll give herself a heart attack now that she's older.

Aww poor Worf :( I dont see why you would have to bring her in again, they should understand and know already what the problem is and just give you the meds

I had to take my Oscar cat to the vet today. He was vomiting and not eating. :(

The problem is nothing is obvious -- I have no plants in the house, so that's not it; I haven't changed his food; and I don't think he's gotten into anything unusual. So he had blood drawn for various tests and xrays taken. The xrays seem to show some inflammation in his stomach and small intestine (I think), so he got a couple of shots and some subcu fluids (because he was dehydrated) and sent home.

Depending on the consulation with the specialist and how Oscar does through the night (he's pretty comfortable right now. He did take a little drink -- which he's keeping down so far -- when he got home, and then he cleaned himself and took a nap) he might get to go back tomorrow for more tests.
