Anyone else following golf this summer? I find this whole playoff deal a bit confusing, but quite compelling to watch. I enjoy watching Tiger do his magic but it would be nice to see someone else get a full spotlight.

Singh has been slipping for weeks, but is still high on the points chart. I think Tiger will likely take it.. but it would be nice to see if someone else gives him a run for his money. The BMW tournament had Stricker and Baddelly nipping a Tigers heels.. hopefully a similar thing will happen this week in Atlanta.

You've obviously not kept up with the golfers here but I'm one of the possessed...admittedly, I was in your shoes once, I wondered why Tiger? Tiger? Tiger? well, its all about Tiger, the sponsorships, the commercialism, Tiger represents Today's Golf...

I'm 56 years old, I followed Arnie, Jack, Gary Player, Johnny Miller, Freddie Couple being my all-time and current favorite; due to his injury, I had to find another new golfer to follow....Tiger...

Here's my confession...Tiger and I are OC boys; I didn't like what I read about him in high school, hated the fact that he was the Next New Wave and hated him even more when he signed Nike's 43M contract the day he turned pro....

However, through the years since, he's grown into his own; his human nature grew from the loss of his father, the taking of a wife and now having a child...I joined his bandwagon after the loss of his dad because it was then that I realized he was REAL...

The Fed-Ex Cup is in its first year; it provides the top 170 golfers a chance to advance through 4 weeks of qualifying...the purse of $10M annunity + an immediate $1.6 m payout is enormous...the fact that rumor has it that Tiger will donate his $10M annuity to the Tiger Woods Foundation is done so out of sincere generosity...the foundation is located about 5 miles from here...its a fantastic location that includes a multi-story educational center with a golf instruction park on the same property...he's doing a lot for local kids and I'm sure his kindness extends to the entire country...

While I admit that the TV cameras follow his every move, its because he is determined to win everything he enters; GAWD, he's got an 8-shot lead as I write this...why not cheer him on; he's setting records that we'll tell out grandkids about...

Don't forget, I didn't like him at the start but I've come around,,,give him a chance or continue to root for your favorite...don't forget, I'll be a longtime Freddie Couples fan...

Signed,

I like golf a lot, despite the fact that I'm at my most frustrated when trying to play it.

I'm a big Tiger fan. I appreciate greatness, and he's turned out to be a good man, in my opinion. I like when people like him or Federer chase history.

Golf is going through it's Wayne Gretzky/Michael Jordan era right now. Tiger is doing things that no other golfers can do. Long drive, he got it. Amazing putter, he got that too. Short game, he's the man. Nerves of steel, yup. Healthy, healthy, healthy, for sure. Recovery game, best in the business. Miracle shots, freakiest ever. Only weakness is tendancy to not hit the fairways every time which is for him still not a problem since his second shot still gets him home.

No wonder he and Roger Federer get along so well. They are the only people on the planet who know what it's like to dominate an individual sport with a combined skill set we have never ever seen before in a single individual.

10 handicap!! If I break 100, I get giddy. to Mr. Baw.

umm, what's with the Canadian love avatar? We are lovable though!!

I forgot which major it was, but, it was recent...Tiger was LAST for the tournament in driving accuracy, but was first in greens hit in regulation. He's amazing at rescuing himself from errant tee shots. He's also got something Gretzky, Federer, Bird, Magic, etc had....imagination.

My favorite Tiger stat was when he won his first or second British Open....he hit exactly zero shots into a bunker. At a British Open.

My parents are both big golf fans, but both don't like Tiger. My mother loves Phil Mickelson.

I like Jim Furyk, who was born in the Philly area, I think in West Chester.

I wonder if youtube has this classic shot:

I cannot recall the tournament, but Els and Woods are neck and neck, and paired together on Sunday. It's raining, hard. Off of cliff or hill, Els hits a sick shot, and it's right near the cup. Woods is up next, and with Els watching, hits a shot from almost the same place, except he holes it. They cut back to Woods, and he is pumping his fist while a forlorn and soaked Els watches. Man, I wish I could remember what year or tourney it was, I'd love to see that clip again.

Yes it's hard disputing that Tiger is indeed, a great player. He's only young too, it makes a person wonder what he's going to achieve in the next ten or twenty years.. heck even the next five. It's amazing some of the shots he pulls off. How does he control his draw shots anyway.. mine hook all on their own. :giggle:
