Might as well, in no order...

Helter Skelter
Strawberry Fields Forever
Here Comes The Sun
I Feel Fine
Across The Universe
Paperback Writer
I Saw Her Standing There
Eleanor Rigby
Come Together
Back In The USSR
Help!
Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds
Maxwell's Silver Hammer
The Long And Winding Road

I'm sure there are a couple more. I'm what you might call a 'casual' Beatles fan, but those are my favourites.

Good Lord...there are way too many. I pretty much like all of their songs, with very few exceptions. But I'll just mention the ones that immediately come to mind:

In My Life (if I had to pick a favorite, this would be it  )
Something
I've Just Seen a Face
Here, There and Everywhere
If I Fell
Ballad of John and Yoko
Hey Jude
Saw Her Standing There
For No One
Don't Let Me Down
Norwegian Wood
You've Got to Hide Your Love Away
Here Comes the Sun
Eight Days a Week
When I'm 64
Revolution
A Day in the Life
She's Leaving Home
Blackbird
Yer Blues

Scary that that's the narrowed down version of my list. As if you couldn't tell, I'm a complete Beatles fanatic. They were my first musical obsession and only U2 equals them in the pantheon of my musical loves.

edited cause I'm a freak and I had to add one more.

She Came in Through the Bathroom Window

End

This run at the end of Abbey Rd is PERFECT!

Dear Prudence
And Your Bird Can Sing
She Said
Ballad of John and Yoko
Help!
I'm So Tired
Cry Baby Cry
Don't Let Me Down

You really could go on forever listing these things. The Beatles truely are untouchable.

i'd say a good half of their songs have been my #1 favourite song at some point

here are my top favourites as of now:

rain
here comes the sun
she said she said
we can work it out
fixing a hole
paperback writer

savoy truffle
mother nature's son
there's a place
love me do
please plase me
p.s. i love you
misery
i'll cry instead
can't buy my love
things we said today
got to get you into my life
you can't do that
i'll follow the sun
what you're doing
help
the night before
you've got to hide your love away
think for yourself
you won't see me
nowhere man
strawberry fields forever
penny lane
good day sunshine
and your bird can sing
carry that weight
golden slumbers
while my guitar gently weeps
hey jude
norwiegan wood
i'm looking through you
flying
i need you
taxman

and probably a ton of others that as soon as i take more time to think about i'll not be able to believe that i forgot them. that list is what comes to mind off the top of my head and from reading what other people put. it's just like trying to pick a favourite u2 song. i can't do it...

God, it's really amazing the number of songs that I adore that I totally forgot about. I once listened to I'll Follow the Sun on repeat for like a half hour. And that song's less than two minutes long, so that's a damn lot of times, my friends. And Nowhere Man. How could I freaking forget Nowhere Man?? :tsk:

how did i forget "it's only love"????

*listening to the help album*

the beatles--help: the first album i ever bought. i was 8.

I suppose this is not a good time to say I only own '1'. :shame:

We all have to start somewhere I suppose. :) I've downloaded a couple of tunes which I haven't heard before from this thread, and I really like what I've heard so far. Once this whole SARS quarantine blows over I'm going to buy myself a Beatles album.

Anyway, to my (very short) list, add

Day Tripper
Nowhere Man
Penny Lane
The Ballad Of John And Yoko
You've Got To Hide Your Love Away
Ticket To Ride
A Hard Day's Night
A Day In The Life

"all my loving"

everynight when i put my daughter to bed she begs me, "mommy...sing it! sing it!" and i do..."close your eyes and i'll kiss you, tomorrow i'll miss you..." and all the rest of it...so this song is the one i will always hold closest to my heart. it is a little gift i can give to my daughter, the gift of a great song.

May I suggest:

all of them.

No, really. You can't go wrong with any of them. Sgt. Pepper is always a good place to start. But, personally, my favorites are Rubber Soul and Abbey Road, so you should definitely get those first. ;)

Yes! The end of Abbey Road is amazing.

I really love most Beatles songs, but here are some that particularly stand out:

Something
In My Life
While My Guitar Gently Weeps
Let It Be
We Can Work It Out
Drive My Car
You've Got to Hide Your Love Away
It's Only Love
All My Loving
Revolution
Here Comes the Sun
The Night Before
Don't Let Me Down
I Want You (She's So Heavy)
Blue Jay Way
Baby You're a Rich Man
A Day in the Life
Eleanor Rigby

...any many more!

Hello,

As many said, there are so many great Beatles songs it's hard to make even a small list. So I won't :D Instead, I mention the song that's most in my head and probably my current favourite.

Eight Days A Week

In a way, they couldn't beat the early singles in catchyness (even though they got more interesting musically later on).

Oh, and the small skit on the Live At The BBC collection before Roll Over Beethover (called Just A Rumour). George is great with his deadpan humour!

C ya!

Marty

oh geez i forgot eight days a week *smacks self in head*

live at the bbc is pretty cool, i haven't listened to that in a while...

it's appropriate that this topic appears today

My mum just rang with good news... my big sister is flying home from Western Australia next month. She has lived over there for about 30 years and I only see her about once every 5 years, so it's a very special time.:hyper: :applaud:
The Beatles toured Australia in 1964, I was 3, she was 13. The excitement it caused is etched in my memory. Our bedroom was festooned with Beatles memorabilia, she bought the singles as they came out and played them on her dinky little portable record player......magic stuff.
So songs like She Loves Me, Mr Postman, Hard Days Night, 8 Days A Week, take me back to a warm fuzzy place.

Their slower songs, hey Jude, Yesterday, Something, are just beautiful.
Songs like Octopus' Garden and Yellow Submarine, take me back to singing time at Primary school.

I LOVE Emmylou Harris' version of "Here There and Everywhere".

Did I read on the front page that it is Elvis' birthday today? THE Elvis? Our Elvis? JT? anyone started a thread yet? I seem to recall he digs the Beatles.
HB E:hug:

:heart:The Beatles

But I love them all! Okay, I'm partial to If I Needed Someone, Dear Prudence, Hide Your Love Away, Something, Drive My Car, Daytripper, Ticket To Ride, She Came in Through the Bathroom Window, Want You To, She Said She Said.....ahh! I've Just Seen A Face! Too many good songs! The Night Before! Taxman! Here Comes the Sun, THE WORD! Oh! Darling, I Want You, Come To-fucking-gether!

I'm back , can't see a birthday thread, so I'll put this here

Dear Joel
