1. Various Actors as The Doctor--Doctor Who

If anyone can come up with another TV character who's been on for 30 seasons and/or played by 9 different actors, let me know.

2. Lauren Graham as Lorelai Gilmore--Gilmore Girls

Best dialogue ever, delivered by the best TV comedienne in the last 25 years. In a perfect world she'd be as popular and rich as any of those skanks from Friends.

The rest in no particular order:

Bruce Campbell as Brisco County, Jr.--The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr.
Paul Darrow as Avon--Blake's 7
Patrick Stewart as Jean-Luc Picard--Star Trek: The Next Generation
Bruce Willis as David Addison--Moonlighting (NO ONE ELSE HAS MENTIONED THIS??)
Ricky Gervais as David Brent--The Office (fucking pathetic that Rainn Phoenix has more mentions than this genius)
Patrick McGoohan as "Number 6"--The Prisoner
John Ritter as Jack Tripper--Three's Company (best physical comedian I've ever seen on TV)
Majandra Delfino as Maria DeLuca--Roswell
Gabe Kaplan as Gabe Kotter--Welcome Back Kotter
Henry Winkler as The Fonz--Happy Days
Alan Alda as Benjamin "Hawkeye" Pierce--M*A*S*H
Kristen Bell as Veronica Mars--Veronica Mars
Joshua Jackson as Pacey Whitter--Dawson's Creek
Michelle Williams as Jen Lindley--Dawson's Creek
Will Arnett as G.O.B.--Arrested Development
Scott Bakula as Dr. Sam Beckett--Quantum Leap
Terry O'Quinn as John Locke--Lost
The entire cast of The Wire
Tom & Jerry

Coach Taylor (Friday Night Lights)

Love this choice. Tami Taylor is quite awesome as well. And I'm heartened to see all the love for Veronica Mars. What a great show.

No order here:

Hawkeye Pierce - M*A*S*H

Agent Dale Cooper - Twin Peaks

Jean-Luc Picard - Star Trek the Next Generation

As Laz said (Fantastic list, Laz, by the way, we agree on a lot), anyone from The Wire. Anyone.

Jim Profit - Profit

David Brent - The Office

Elaine Benes - Seinfeld

Cpt. Frank Furillo - Hill Street Blues (Hill Street )

Number 6 - The Prisoner

Felix Ungar - The Odd Couple

Lindsay Weir - Freaks & Geeks

Louie De Palma - Taxi

G.O.B. Bluth - Arrested Development (Check your lease)

Mr. Ecko - Lost

Larry Sanders - The Larry Sanders Show

And the incredible Al Swearengen - Deadwood

Nice. Love the Taxi mention. I was going to put Jim Ignatowski or Alex Rieger, but didn't do either.

And I can't believe no one ridiculed me for listing not one, but two Dawson's Creek characters, in a total of 4 characters from WB shows.

You sure as hell won't get any ridicule from me for having Lorelai and V. Mars on your list.

I never did really watch Dawson's Creek, though, so that very well could be ridicule material.

I have so many other things to ridicule you about.

I could have mentioned Rev Jim or Alex, but De Palma used to really crack me up so I rolled with him. I was surprised you did not go with anyone from Deadwood.

I've actually only seen 1 episode of Deadwood. I have the first season stored away and hope to get to it at some point (I still have 3 more seasons of The Wire to get to). I love what I've seen of McShane's portrayal and was pretty pleased when he won his Emmy a couple years back.

Oh, wow. Laz, you're in for a treat.

Rodney McKay (Stargate)
GOB Bluth (Arrested Development)
Bernard Black (Black Books)
Andrew Wells (Buffy the Vampire Slayer)

In no particular order...

Kramer
Phoebe Buffay (Friends)
Joey Tribiani (Friends)
