I'm reading such high praise here for Astronaut. And All Music Guide gave it like 2 stars or something! Then again, they gave Pop 2 stars.

Other than Electric Barbarella, Out Of My Mind, Big Bang Generation and the title track, I still haven't warmed up to the rest of Medazzaland. Is it a grower?

I think Astronaut is a pretty decent album Duran-wise. I still tend to play it so that's a good sign. RCM on the other hand, not really my cup of tea. Like someone said, there are a few decent songs but nothing earth shattering like their old stuff.

Even so, I'll be seeing them in a couple weeks so I hope they pull off a good show.

And yeah, I do miss Andy Taylor's guitar work.

I don't know where they're touring other than San Diego County and I think a date in Los Angeles in August, but its supposed to be: Human League, ABC, Belinda Carlisle, Dead or Alive and Naked Eyes. Depending on how my job search goes, I might try to go. It sounds like fun.

Ahhh, I found a link: http://www.regenerationtour.com/index.html

and no, i hadn't heard of that tour before. it sounds like they're only touring california so no point in me getting all excited.

I saw it last Wed and Thurs, or Thurs and Fri. I can't remember. It was pretty good. A lot of new songs I didn't know. It made me wish I was going to one of their shows down here.

Astronaut is completely wonderful. With the original five guys, there are some true Duran Duran moments. I very much enjoy RCM but overall Astronaut is a much stronger album from start to finish. Medazzaland is great too. I've always thought the Wedding Album was overrated - maybe half the songs even worth keeping in iTunes.

OMG what a great great show they put on last night here in Los Angeles! The Nokia theatre was on fire. Simon's pants are about two sizes too small, he dropped the tamborine when he threw it up, and lost his voice before the end of the show, but it was still a great, spirited night. JT is so fecking hot I can't stand it.
