Not that there's anything wrong with the old standards like Bing Crosby and such, but I'm trying to track down some "cooler," "newer" Christmas songs (or standards performed by newer artists), as I'm sure others are as well!

Here are some of my contemporary favorites:

"Children Go Where I Send Thee" Natalie Merchant
"I Saw Three Ships" Sting
"Oi to the World" No Doubt
"Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)" U2 (of course)
"Happy Xmas (War Is Over)" John Lennon
"St. Patrick's Day" John Mayer (it really is more like a Christmas song)
"Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" Tori Amos

What are yours?

i believe the dandy warhols do a cover of a well known christmas song, but i cant remember which one off hand.

A Fairytale of New York (The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl)

I know its widely played, but its not exactly carols under the tree. I like it.

it's christmastime in hollis queens
mom's cookin chicken and colard greens

that's all I remember from run dmc

"Ave Maria," recorded by Chris Cornell and Eleven
"Run, Run, Rudolph," by Chuck Berry
"Christmas All Over Again," by Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers

I know! It's like, wtf were they thinking? (Love the talking at the beginning :lmao:)

Yes! That dialogue that was obviously not scripted. *ahem*

"Oh I'm David Bowie, I live down the road..."
"I'm Bing!"
"This song is real pretty."
"Yeah, it's one of my little boy's favorites..."

Pansy Division - Homo Christmas

Holy cow! I haven't heard anybody mention Pansy Division in years! My friends used to listen to them in high school...
