And now we've found our way to Devil's Dyke, Sussex, England.
This is a V-shaped valley in the South Downs, near Brighton and Hove. It is the site of some Iron-age earthworks, and local legend tells that the valley was formed by the devil trying to dig through the hills in order to drown the upright, church-building population.

Also, I went there last year.

Yay! First post!

I swear sometimes the English were drunk when they named their towns.

I think the best part is that the devil has THREE English dykes, plus a fourth in Scotland.

I've never seen cricket.

I have no idea how it's played.

But now I know that the team names are very strange.

 The New Zealand Black Caps really drew the short straw when it comes to New Zealand's Black-related national team names. But they have the best uniforms so it evens out.

And if I may be curious, where are you from anyway?

Mind you, Deccan Chargers is a bit of a wank too
The Deccan Traps... one of the most massive outpourings of basalt in the world...

Some people think it was in reaction to the meteorite impact at the end of the Cretaceous. That would be seriously cool.

I wish I could remember the name of this hilarious English town I went through in a train... :banghead:

I think the Black Cocks won the Black-something name contest though.

Quoted for the contextual lulz:

local legend has it that the devil tried to dig through the hills to let the sea in to drown everyone cos they were building too many churches, except some old woman with a lantern and a confused rooster scared him off cos he thought the sun was coming up.

I didn't realise the devil was such a wuss... :tsk:

Ahh, right, I think you'd said that before but I'd forgotten.

In fact, yes, I remember when that came up now - when we were discussing the Mormon magical undies!

After all this time and all those episodes, I'm not really surprised...

The thing is, it seems all the classic quotes come from the first eight or nine series. The rest? Who's even watching them?
