I see. I didn't realize he'd taken it so hard. I thought he was just having fun and "getting even".

We were traded a bunch of PM's that night, and he never seemed that upset to me, but then he sent me one the next day and sounded pretty pissed off. He must have read it without the bourbon.

I guess the closest I've been to is a fancy night-club.

I've never been to a nightclub. Sounds like it'd be shitty so I don't ever intend to.

I thought everyone was having a good time. I wouldn't have gone as far as I did otherwise. Well, except for that hideous Prince song. That can't be slagged off enough.

The transition to Maybe Someday is really sudden, by the way, and I don't think it really works. The songs had worked together fairly well up to this point.

I thought that transition was good because I think the voices of the singers are similar. I guess I probably should've switched it and the song "The Things Love Makes You Do" around.

I'm sick of casinos because I can't turn on the TV without hearing the worst country casino jingle in the world:

Take me away to Tunica! Tunica take me away! Take me away to Tunica! Tunica take me away! *repeat repeat*

:scream: I don't even know where the fuck Tunica is but I'm sick of hearing about it. All we have up here is a Harrah's, and they don't have annoying ads.
it's in northern mississippi, half an hour outside of memphis

i live in memphis and *i* don't even see those ads! :hmm: which casino are you referring to? harrah's metropolis?

Must've.

Maybe Someday is pretty catchy. I don't really think it's that great, but I bet it'll get stuck in my head.

lol yeah, they are kind of similar. alcohol, and you end up spending more money than you intend to.

if i had vacation time right now, i'd take a trip to atlantic city cuz i can get three nights comped right now, and i didn't even have to break the rules and comp them myself :shifty:

Just the relative volume of the music makes it feel a bit sudden and jarring.

Yeah, Metropolis. Right across the river from me.

I got confused. Because I just mentioned the song "The Things Love Makes You Do" by a band called Metropolis.

I generally try to only get one drink when I go out because, let's face it, I'm not made of money.

me too. this is why i drink at home usually. bottles of liquor are cheaper from the liquor store. does this make me an alcoholic? probably. do i care? not really.

And that in turn is confusing me, because to me, Metropolis is one of the most important songs in prog music history. Dream Theater's Metropolis Part I: The Miracle And The Sleeper.

No, no. I totally agree with you. House parties>going to nightclubs for overrated drinks.

Don't let the name fool you, Metropolis is a very small town  Basically the only thing they have is the casino, and a big ol' statue of Superman.
:lmao: i wondered about that. i figured it must've been a small town as i hadn't heard of it until i entered the casino biz. but still, it's not like i know where every casino in the country is, just the ones in my general vicinity and the ones the company i work for owns.

Andrew, I like that Metropolis song more than I feel I should.

The Violet Burning song is crap at the start though. 30 seconds in now.

Kentucky's new governor was gonna put a casino here in my city (Paducah) but the bible thumpers panicked and got it banned

And a random change of topic. Have you ever been to Mud Island river park? I think it looks nerdily fun

something in my state that's kinda simiilar is centerville. what's disappointing is it's not even in the center of the state!

Ha, we were actually going to go to Centreville for some reason, I forget what now, but never got around to it. (That sounds familiar, doesn't it? Blaaahhh. I should've stayed with somebody who could get their act together. )

ugh, how lame. casinos have been suggested in memphis as well as desoto county, mississippi (the closest county in the state to memphis, tunica is the next one down) and both have been rejected. although at least tennessee got a lottery. but wtf, i don't give a shit about the lottery. i played one time, on my 18th birthday. i bought one ticket, didn't match any numbers, and was like "that sucked. i'm never doing this again." at least casinos are slightly fun. you can put $10 in a penny slot machine and it can last an hour if you play your card (or slots, hahaha) right.

yeah, i've been to mud island. whenever i've gone, it's been kind of anti-climatic though and most of the stuff has been closed i guess. and i first went when we moved here in like 95 when downtown was boring with nothing to do. although i've seen a couple concerts there.

Glad you liked the Metropolis song--I'm surprised. It's a love song. I didn't realise you were fond of such things.
