Welcome to the fourth match of the second round for Interference Desert Island VI! The premise of this game is that all of the Interferencers have been stranded on a desert island and we can only take up to 160 minutes of music with us (either as a continuous iPod playlist or two 80 minute CDs or any other format of our choosing). The object is to see which forum member can fit the most musical goodness into these 160 minutes.

For every win, each player will receive three points. If there is a tie, each player gets two points. If a player loses a match but is within three votes of the winner, that player will earn a single point.

At the beginning of each round, I will include the updated standings. Remember, the top two from each group moves on to the quarterfinals.

The fourth match pits hardyharhar against The Sad Punk. Below are their playlists.

Since I’m Mr Literal, I approach this as if I’m actually gonna end up on an island. So I gotta have songs I’m gonna like listening to on my solar or wind powered boombox. And being old enough to remember the 60’s, I have to have songs from way back then also. So I think I got a pretty good mix of tunes I’ve enjoyed since then. There’s a handful of songs from previous DI and mini contest lists I’ve included which I never would have heard otherwise, but really like now. So thanks to all the participants for turning me on to some great songs. You’ll know who you are by checking the info on each song. I’m looking forward to hearing some new stuff once again that will become part of my being from here on. Hopefully there’s something here that someone else will enjoy. I’ve tried to select songs from the older artists that are not commonly heard (but will no doubt still be familiar), and still be fun listening. I think it moves along pretty well, and I even became kinda reflective in the second half. I was gonna end on U2, but I had to include the Neil Young song I’d just discovered and love. I thought it worked well as the last song anyways and it had to go there because it’s live (gasp!) and there’s a minute of applause at the end of it. We’ll just pretend everyone is applauding cuz the list was so good (haha) or just cuz it’s finally over. Well……………………. I hope you enjoy it.

Competition master list.

Have fun!

there were individual songs on The Sad Punk's list I liked more than anything on hardy's [also: amazing album art], but overall I liked hardy's more

Hardy needs to vote - but I don't know if he can get online before 9:50am Tuesday. I think he'd probably be voting for... himself. I'll see if I can ask him in case he's not at a computer in time...
