Please vote for the tracklisting you LIKE THE MOST.

After 47 matches, we've made it to the final.

PlaTheGreat/the rockin edge have taken third place in the tournament by defeating LemonMacPhisto, 10-9, in the third place match. Congratulations to Pla and tre for a job well done.

Unlike our other matches, the final will be 48 hours long. Our two finalists are Lara Mullen and phanan. Below are their playlists.

If you don't know the songs, or wish to hear how each tracklisting flows, feel free to check out the Desert Island website. :)

Competition master list.

Have fun!

Voted for phanan. It's a very good playlist.

I will say that the two playlists of the competition that made the biggest impression on me are LJT's and LemonMelon's.

I voted for Phanan, Lara's playlist was really great but Phanan's was one of my favourite, both awesome though, congrats on reaching the final both of you.

Voted for Lara.

Personal faves of the tourney, would probably be Tourist's and AtomicBono's.

Are there going to be special awards like last time, best theme etc?

Congrats on reaching the final, Lara. You've got a great playlist. Good luck!

You too, Phanan.

This was a really fun competition. Thanks for organising everything. :)

There was some discussion regarding this a few days ago (in the Superthread over in OOC), and Axver was looking into possibly starting a thread for it. I'm not sure if a decision has been made yet.

Everyone, feel free to post in this thread with your thoughts on this. If enough people wish to do it, it would be worthwhile.

I bought the Cherry Ghost album yesterday. I heard them for the first time thanks to your playlist.

Reet.

It was in the two for a tenner deal at HMV.

I went for phanan's this time

the tourist's was my favourite overall but phanan's and Lara's were definitely some of the best

I'm all for special awards

Phanan, you know where I stand on the Critic's Choice. Also, as long as the categories aren't confusing like last time (Most Unique vs. Most Creative?), then I'm totally in.

This is a hard choice for me. I liked Phanan's immediately, and it was one of my toppers, but Lara's grew on me as the tourney wore on. I'd like to see her get the credit she deserves after so little talk about the list as it went through, you know?

I'm cool with whoever wins, you're both extremely deserving and make this tourney worth doing.

The categories should totally be:

-Best playlist
-Best song choices
-Best flow
-Best cover art
-Most politically insightful
-Most atmospheric
-Most soundscapey
-Most likely to be used as a rickroll
-Highest concentrated amount of deathgrowls
-Most indietastic
-Most pandering
-Biggest sellout
-Most oblique
-Most repeated artists/singers that aren't really "repeated" per se
-Most pretentious
-Worst playlist

Best Use of Soundtrack Songs
Best Use of Greatest Hits
Best Use of Chris Rock Stand-Up.

You know I love you, Zoots.

So, next DI: signups in mid-June, uploads by mid-July, tourney begins beginning of August?

This is waaaaaaaay too soon IMO. We're going to burn everyone out.

Agreed. Don't worry, it'll be back, but a breather is always needed.

I only bring it up because me and Axver discussed it a few days ago.

I vote for signups in October. With any luck, the forum will be incredibly busy because of the new U2 album.

That actually might be a bit too late if a certain Irish band is indeed gearing up for a new album shortly after.

I saw you edited your post. I don't think it makes sense to do it if a new album is about to launch - everyone's attention will be diverted to that and there might not be as much interest for DI.

Yeah.... My guess is most of us will be picking at some of the scabs in EYKIW at that point.

Well, I figure, if you're on the forum, and there's no album out yet that you can listen to, the amount of people is increased, but attention is not necessarily diverted. If we can hit that period right around the time of the new single, but before the new album, it could be the biggest DI yet.

No risk, no reward.

There could be one in between.

It's not like you listen to them anyway.
