Welcome to the second heat of the fourth round of the Interference Desert Island Game III! The premise of this game is that all of the Interferencers have been stranded on a desert island and we can only take up to 160 minutes of music with us (either as a continuous iPod playlist or two 80 minute CDs or any other format of our choosing). The object is to see which forum member can fit the most musical goodness into these 160 minutes.

The rest of the heats in Round 3 have been completed, with inmyplace13 scoring a convincing victory over LJT in Heat 6, 9-3; BonoIsMyMuse doubling up on Zootlesque in Heat 7, 10-5; and Lila64 picking up her second win of the tournament in the last heat, with a 9-6 win over corianderstem (although cori earns another point). Current standings will be displayed at the end of the fourth round.

Bonos_Lemon and PlaTheGreat go up against each other in this heat. Below are the tracklistings.

If you don't know the songs, or wish to hear how each tracklisting flows, leave your e-mail address and we'll help you out. :)

Are Euphoria?

I approached this playlist with no real idea for
theme, I merely picked some of my favorite songs by
many of my favorite artists and made them flow. As I
was looking for an image to define my playlist, I
realized why these particular songs were my favorites;
they stir something inside me and this entire
arrangement is a drool worthy euphoric experience for
my ears. Many of my selections, I noticed, are songs
that begin slowly, building into something grand and I
feel that this image presents both the mellow and
energetic aspects of my playlist. So as you listen to
these songs I ask, are euphoria?

My original idea behind this was to have two separate CD's: One containing a "'pessimist" list, the other with the "optimist" list. The idea came from listening to Pink Floyd's "The Wall" as it tracks the mental breakdown and then a small buildup at the end. I made it an unbroken iPod playlist to better suit the rules of the competition. It's meant to put a smile on your face at the very end and give you hope...if you are in fact trapped on a Desert Island. I took the idea behind the title seriously, as some of my songs definitely incorporate an "island" theme. Also, I love Top 40 hits and I wasn't about to go out of my way to out-indie myself for everyone. If all else fails, I've made myself what I consider a GREAT mix.

1. Pink Floyd - "Time" - Dark Side Of The Moon (7:06)
2. Nine Inch Nails - "Every Day Is Exactly The Same" - With Teeth (4:54)
3. The Police - "Message In A Bottle" - Regatta De Blanc (4:51)
4. Muse - "Map Of The Problematique" - Black Holes & Revelations (4:18)
5. The Rolling Stones - "Gimme Shelter" - Forty Licks [Disc 1] (4:32)
6. Peter Gabriel - "Red Rain" - So (5:38)
7. U2 - "Please (Single) [Strings Version] - Please Single (5:49)
8. John Lennon - "Working Class Hero" - The Very Best Of John Lennon (3:51)
9. The Beatles - "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" - Love (3:46)
10.The Flaming Lips - "Mr. Ambulance Driver" - At War With The Mystics (4:21)

I really like some of the transitions in Pla's. She has songs I wouldn't have thought of placing back to back, like Island in the Sun and Hey Ya, and 1979 and Fly Me to the Moon.
