Please vote for the tracklisting you LIKE THE MOST.

Welcome to the third heat of the third round of the Interference Desert Island Game III! The premise of this game is that all of the Interferencers have been stranded on a desert island and we can only take up to 160 minutes of music with us (either as a continuous iPod playlist or two 80 minute CDs or any other format of our choosing). The object is to see which forum member can fit the most musical goodness into these 160 minutes.

In the second round's seventh heat, edge_2125 won for the first time, beating corianderstem in a close one, 10-8. Cori will still get a point for that round. Current standings will be displayed in the Heat 4 thread of Round 3.

Here in Heat 3 of Round 3, angelordevil squares off against PlaTheGreat. Below are the tracklistings.

If you don't know the songs, or wish to hear how each tracklisting flows, leave your e-mail address and we'll help you out. :)

From Apathy to Ascension, or "What I Think About in the Shower"

It's hard to ignore the darkness that surrounds us all at the moment. Whether it's global warming, the "War on Terror," or Aids in Africa, we're living and breathing in a time of heartache. Where's the hope? It could be right around that dark corner. It could start with electing the right politician, coming up with a brave new idea...or simply by sharing a bunch of songs that truly move you.

I wanted my tracklist to reflect a kind of arc...with an eventual exit point into something great. That "great" thing could be spirit, friendship, life after war, meeting aliens...love. I'll leave it up to you to decide.

Hope you enjoy!

My original idea behind this was to have two separate CD's: One containing a "'pessimist" list, the other with the "optimist" list. The idea came from listening to Pink Floyd's "The Wall" as it tracks the mental breakdown and then a small buildup at the end. I made it an unbroken iPod playlist to better suit the rules of the competition. It's meant to put a smile on your face at the very end and give you hope...if you are in fact trapped on a Desert Island. I took the idea behind the title seriously, as some of my songs definitely incorporate an "island" theme. Also, I love Top 40 hits and I wasn't about to go out of my way to out-indie myself for everyone. If all else fails, I've made myself what I consider a GREAT mix.

1. Pink Floyd - "Time" - Dark Side Of The Moon (7:06)
2. Nine Inch Nails - "Every Day Is Exactly The Same" - With Teeth (4:54)
3. The Police - "Message In A Bottle" - Regatta De Blanc (4:51)
4. Muse - "Map Of The Problematique" - Black Holes & Revelations (4:18)
5. The Rolling Stones - "Gimme Shelter" - Forty Licks [Disc 1] (4:32)
6. Peter Gabriel - "Red Rain" - So (5:38)
7. U2 - "Please (Single) [Strings Version] - Please Single (5:49)
8. John Lennon - "Working Class Hero" - The Very Best Of John Lennon (3:51)
9. The Beatles - "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" - Love (3:46)
10.The Flaming Lips - "Mr. Ambulance Driver" - At War With The Mystics (4:21)
11. Moby - "In This World" - 18 (4:02)
12. Radiohead - "Subterranean Homesick Alien" - OK Computer (4:27)
13. Red Hot Chili Peppers - "Wet Sand" - Stadium Arcadium - JUPITER (5:09)
14. Queen - "Bohemiam Rhapsody" - A Night At The Opera (5:54)

Competition master list.

Have fun!

I have to go with Angelordevil.

He has one of my favorites in the game. The first disc is spectacular. Pla had so many great songs and was a great road trip playlist. It is another one of those playlists that are climbing my rankings. The best of luck to both of you through the rest of the game.

Pla! It's just song after song of freakin awesomeness! Mad props for including Duran Duran's finest song and some Sinatra too!

That said, I did enjoy AOD's playlist but certain songs didn't appeal to me.

Sorry, Pla. The link Screwtape had in the Master List was wrong. I had asked in your previous heat for the correct one, but I think he missed my post.

Can you provide the link so that I can include it in your next heat?

Hell, show it here so everyone can look...I wanna see it!

Pla posted the cover and that's why I didn't send you the link.

Here's the cover and a link to it.

 I want to run barefoot on that beach.

Penny  Hope she's doing well! Pla's list is great. The Rufus Wainwright version of Across The Universe sounds like the way Thom Yorke might approach it...I like it a lot. It might be suicidal, but she's got my vote.

My cover, however, is so much better. It's in Newfoundland...thanks for asking.

Aww cute pic! Is that in FL?

Yep, on the west coast though. We never get to see beach sunsets here, just boring beach sunrises that I'm far too lazy to wake up/drive over for.

Penny is doing pretty good. I have a sneaking suspicion that the vet's blood sugar device is off balance though. She was reading at over 600 for almost a week. It's impossible. She would have been in a coma!
Newfoundland.

Glad she's doing good. :) You should come to Newfoundland some time! Along with seeing whales & icebergs, we could go mooseback riding!

I love both of these lists about the same, but I gotta go with Pla on this one.

Well, before I change my mind another 4 times.
