Please vote for the tracklisting you LIKE THE MOST.

Welcome to the fourth heat of the first round of the Interference Desert Island Game III! The premise of this game is that all of the Interferencers have been stranded on a desert island and we can only take up to 160 minutes of music with us (either as a continuous iPod playlist or two 80 minute CDs or any other format of our choosing). The object is to see which forum member can fit the most musical goodness into these 160 minutes.

In Heat 2, Screwtape2 won a fairly close contest over U2vertigofly by the score of 14-10. Our current standings are as follows:

Group 1

Forum name: total competition points, won, lost, votes for, votes against, votes difference
phanan: 3, 1, 0, 21, 4, +17.
Screwtape2: 3, 1, 0, 14, 10, +4.
U2vertigofly: 0, 0, 1, 10, 14, -4.
Lancemc: 0, 0, 1, 4, 21, -17.

This heat pits the battle of the Lemons, as Bonos_Lemon goes up against LemonMelon. Below are the tracklistings.

If you don't know the songs, or wish to hear how each tracklisting flows, leave your e-mail address and we'll help you out. :)

Are Euphoria?

I approached this playlist with no real idea for
theme, I merely picked some of my favorite songs by
many of my favorite artists and made them flow. As I
was looking for an image to define my playlist, I
realized why these particular songs were my favorites;
they stir something inside me and this entire
arrangement is a drool worthy euphoric experience for
my ears. Many of my selections, I noticed, are songs
that begin slowly, building into something grand and I
feel that this image presents both the mellow and
energetic aspects of my playlist. So as you listen to
these songs I ask, are euphoria?

Hello. First off, let me thank you for reading this little explanatory paragraph, and, more so, for listening to my playlist. I crafted it over the course of 3 months, and it shows. I made sure there was as little fat present as possible, and it was more for your enjoyment, rather than mine because, left to my own devices, this list would be an extremely lengthy, navel-gazing mess rather than the tight aural analysis of my personality that I intended it to be. Or perhaps I’m looking too much into this. That wouldn’t surprise me at all.

Now, you may be ask, “is there anything in particular--a concept, a mood, a statement--that you were going for with this list?” The answer is, quite simply, no. My list mostly scrapes the more friendly, sane side of my personality; I wanted something very accessible and enjoyable to be available to you all. In this tournament, I think that artistic statements are best left to those who think they are capable of making such statements within the rules we have been given, and I do not think such a thing is completely possible. So, as a result, I decided to run through my record collection, picking out my favorite songs by each artist, and then I whittled it down to what you see today. Segueing was important to me, and I am quite proud of some of the transitions I was able to come up with. So enjoy yourself. I really want you to!

 Good luck to you, Bono's Lemon.

I'm looking forward to Axver vs. IMP, that match will be awesome.

I really tried to like Bono's Lemon's list. I dug what you were trying to do, and enjoy some of the songs (Road to Joy, most of the 2nd half.) But most of the 1st half kills it for me, I'm sorry, I can't do AFI, Thrice, and Streetlight Manifesto.

Meg'sLeg's has one of my faves in the entire comp, so I gotta vote for him.

Is there anyway to switch my vote over, I got confused by all the lemons :reject:

I will ask Khanada if she can do it, if and when she's around. If for whatever reason she is unable to, I think everyone here will be ok if I change your vote to reflect the final total.

Bonos_Lemon gets my vote, I in general love the majority of the songs, and is certainly euphoric...kinda reminds me of a night out at Auntie Annies on a Saturday night...probably the best night of music you can get here in Belfast.

Two very good playlists, but I'm going with LemonMelon.

On Bonos_Lemon's list, I especially enjoyed the Bright Eyes, ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead (weird band name!), Cold War Kids, Klaxons, Decembrists, Editors and Postal Service tracks. And of course the U2, Arcade Fire, Wilco and Simon & Garfunkel. What hurt the list most for me was the AFI and Receiving End of Sirens. But again, overall, it's an excellent list.

LemonMelon's is one of my favorites in the tourney. Everything was 4 stars or better, except that damned Oasis song. <wink>

This was a hard one. Just by looking at Bono's Lemon's playlist, I wasn't expecting to like it. There were certainly songs I didn't care for, but overall, I ended up liking it more than I had expected. That was a nice little surprise.

Ultimately, though, I have to go with LemonMelon. I liked the mood(s) and variety.

This was the toughest one yet for me. I really loved both playlists, but LemonMelon got my vote eventually, because of the more interesting structure, and inclusion of Purple Rain.

Khanada has informed me that your vote has been changed, so you're all set.

So what it says on the poll right now is what the actual results are?

I spent the day listening to both of these playlists, and I enjoyed quite a bit of Bonos_Lemon's playlist, but LemonMelon's is very strong, probably one of the best in the tournament. It worked very well, so that's where my vote went.

Gotta be LemonMelon loved all of the playlist while Bono's Lemon had a section in the first half that just seemed a tad bland. Still that's not to say I didn't like Bono's Lemon's playlist it had brilliant songs like...there's actually too many to mention but still I'm gonna have to give this round to LemonMelon.

LemonMelon's list is cool for sure but I gotta go with Bonos_Lemon. that Thrice song is baller and it was great to hear an Editors track I'd never heard before...plus Bloc Party, Muse, Arcade Fire, a Postal Service song besides Such Great Heights, Mad World, i dug the Klaxons track...just lots of songs I really liked on that list, and I thought it had excellent variety. LM's definitely had some winners for me too (Interpol Untitled  and a Wilco song i didnt have yay!), but overall Bonos_Lemon is just more my taste.

which would probably explain why we're both getting trounced

definitely impressed with both lists though, they both flow very well

I like a handful of songs on BL's list but I relate to LM's list a lot more! We have quite similar tastes! :hi5:

This was a tough one! Tougher than I thought it would be. Ultimately, I felt LemonMelon's collection is the best experience...as in a journey of some kind. Bonos_Lemon's playlist is remarkable, however, track-by-track. I loved Luno...had never heard that before.
