Please vote for the tracklisting you LIKE THE MOST.

Welcome to the fourth and final quarterfinal heat of the Interference Desert Island Game III! The premise of this game is that all of the Interferencers have been stranded on a desert island and we can only take up to 160 minutes of music with us (either as a continuous iPod playlist or two 80 minute CDs or any other format of our choosing). The object is to see which forum member can fit the most musical goodness into these 160 minutes.

Our fourth quarterfinal matchup has edge_2125 going up against LemonMacPhisto. Below are the tracklistings.

If you don't know the songs, or wish to hear how each tracklisting flows, leave your e-mail address and we'll help you out. :)

"A Nuclear Show"

I don't expect that there will be too much here that's unfamiliar to many. Disc
A is a combination of a few moments of near perfect pop, a handful of songs of
personal significance and a touch of melancholic rock, all collected between two
of the most wonderfully beautiful songs I've ever had the pleasure of hearing.
Disc B is more electronic and generally a bit darker. Some of the songs above
are my absolute favourites; others, I've just been enjoying of late. Either way,
I hope you find something - new or old – that’s worth your time.

Since this competition is more artistically slanted, I changed my approach to making this playlist. This playlist is structured to work as an entire body of work, two halves, or four mini-lists (or Acts. if you will), all with openers and closers, unique moods, flow, and whatever kicks ass. It was hard this time around sacrificing somewhat superior songs for other mood-enhancing, still great tracks. That being said, here’s the deal on everything. I really wanted to create a cinematic experience with this list, which feature songs from some of my favorite movies. I was also inspired greatly by Pink Floyd’s epic “Dark Side of the Moon” in how to create a list of songs that can work as an album and by themselves and also by Passengers, and how the music acts to scores for fictional films. As the list develops, the tone may change from song to song or fade into each other as one moving piece. The format is like an iPod format, but it’s structured like a mixtape, I just didn’t want to deal with the time constraints. They’re a bitch.

The transitions between the songs are important here, both musically and lyrically. Lyrical bits in some tracks might be mentioned again in another, if you listen for it you’ll catch it (“Sunken Treasure” to “Nobody Home” is a good example.) Ah, I shouldn’t have to explain all this, you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about when you listen to all of this. I hope you all enjoy my playlist and especially everyone else’s, and from me, LMP, to you, I just want to thank you for listening to me and letting me be a part of your life today. Because you’ve got a good life! …You got a good life! Sorry, I couldn’t resist the Prison Mike ref, have fun listening!

UP NEXT: Semifinals

Competition master list.

Have fun!

I love both playlists. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to both of them. In the end, I have to go with LemonMacPhisto. His playlist is one of my favorites of the competition for his structure and change in moods. I thought that was a nice touch to an already amazing playlist. Both of you should be very proud of what you created.

LMP. It's not a perfect list, but it's damn good. Edge2125's list is a bit hit-and-miss for me, but even at its best, it doesn't get any better than that segue from Sleeping Lessons into Keep The Car Running.

edge's list is really solid, especially the 2nd disc. Best of luck to you.

And, my vote makes it 8-8. ;) LMP has a very solid list, so it's really quite cool that this is turning out to be as close as this.

Definitely, making me a little nervous though.

I'm still tinkering with my DI4 list.

Wow, if LMP gets knocked out in the quarter-finals ...

Then I'll have to come back and win the next one.

But really, I'm glad edge is getting their props, it really is a great list and wouldn't mind losing (if it happens) to that one.

Both of us lemons could be chopped up and used as garnish by tomorrow morning.

How much brib-- suggestion money do you have on your PayPal account?

I went through both playlists again, trying to see which one has the upper hand.

I enjoyed both immensely, but after further review, the format and concept of LMP's list gave it the edge, even though there are a few parts that aren't as strong.

But it barely won my vote. edge_2125's list is very well done. Good luck down the stretch - only a few hours to go now.

Damn, tied again.

For this heat, if it ends in a tie, LMP would end up having one more point than edge in the overall competition and therefore would advance.

So someone else vote so we avoid that.

Believe me, I know. But it would just get too complicated handling it any other way.

Even their overall records were identical, but the loss that LMP had was within three votes and therefore gave him the extra point. His vote differential is also better.

I know. He gets fifth place which is a great honor. So that's something to take away from this match. :)
