Is there room for a lurker in this competition? I know I won't make it very far since no one really knows me and my music is probably too known. But I'd still like to give it a go!

LA DA DEE DA! LA DA DEE DA! LA DA DEE DA! LA DA DEE DA!

Eloquent, Phil Judd, eloquent.

Go nuts. I feel my tracklist is a little overloaded with Finnage, but when you're focusing on Kiwi music ...
Care to send me that Swingers track early, just for posterity? It's been probably 25 years since we've heard it.

Oh and as to what the poster above me said, mine will be the same. Probably nothing uncommon whatsoever. I'm doomed before I start. But I will have to share if you want

If it kicks ass, then I'm sure people will vote for you regardless if they know you or not.

Trust me.

Sure, I'll send it over. I'll also get onto replying to your e-mail. Nine days of e-mails and messageboards to catch up on isn't fun.

And I actually suspect that if you choose the right "common" stuff, you've got the best shot at winning. Just look at LMP's two winning tracklists. They aren't exactly bastions of obscurity like my tracklists are. And we've all seen how Liam's uncommon material has received hammerings.

Now, if we're talking common a la Christina Aguilera, 50 Cent, Pink, Robbie Williams, and N'Sync, you're probably fucked, but I doubt anyone here will be submitting a tracklist full of THAT.

No, I don't own any of that CRAP! That will not be included. And yes, I know LMP has been successful with his stylings in the past, as I've voted for him several rounds

Yes, the quarterfinals could be very interesting because of that.

Don't worry. You're all safe from the more embarrassing parts of my CD collection.

Lila, I will spare you my lecture on how Pink, Christina Aguilera and Robbie Williams are not crap.

(for the record, I do not own any 50 Cent. Or N'Sync. )

I absolutely agree. I'm well known on Interference and the wider online U2 fandom and I'm the guy who's run the past tournaments, and yet that hasn't helped me a jot. Just look at the thumping I received in Desert Island I and my inability to get past the heats in Prog Island, and I think my success in Desert Island II was purely due to getting the best possible route. Had I ended up in a different quarter or semi final, I'm sure I would have lost.

I have never doubted that people here overwhelmingly vote based on the tracklist, not the associated screen name. However, how much of the tracklist they use to make their judgement is certainly up for question and not helped by Interference's anti-music sharing policies.

I dunno do the music sharing policies of this site have any affect?

Whether you post them here as links directly on the board or email someone a list of links, it still takes time to download, and I would bet in either situation there are people who will take the time to download and listen, and others who will just go based on tracklisting (or just don't have a fast enough connection to download at a reasonable speed).

I think that having links on the thread makes people more likely to download in the first place, though. At the moment, you actually have to go to the effort of posting, which immediately cuts out a lot of lurkers. I know that if I were a lurker, I'd be more likely to listen and vote if I didn't have to make any kind of post and could just download straight from the thread.

And do I get the lecture even if Lila doesn't?

LMP, you do have good stuff. Don't Panic and Just are two of my favourite songs ever and i recently got Daydream Nation, what a great album

well i've narrowed my selections down to 50-some artists this is going to be difficult. And I'm trying to decide if I should do a two-disc collection, one which is more upbeat/rocking and the other being more mellow/atmospheric, or if I should just go for one cohesive playlist...

Axver, my dear, I think you've heard my pop music blatherings enough. I don't want to make you suffer through it again.
