Please vote for the tracklisting you LIKE THE MOST.

Welcome to the fifth heat of the Interference Desert Island Game II! The premise of this game is that all of the Interferencers have been stranded on a desert island and we can only take up to 160 minutes of music with us (either as a continuous iPod playlist or two 80 minute CDs or any other format of our choosing). The object is to see which forum member can fit the most musical goodness into these 160 minutes.

In the previous round, phanan lost to Bono's shades by 15 votes to 8. This means Bono's shades will meet Lancemc in the quarter finals.

This heat features tracklists by Screwtape2 and LJT. The winner will be the first qualifier for the third quarter final. Below, you will find their tracklistings. If you are unfamiliar with the songs included, we can help you hear them! Just leave your e-mail address. :)

THE TRACKLISTINGS!

Screwtape writes: To me the best music to an individual is the kind that has an emotional effect. With that in mind, my compilation attempts to take someone into the experience of life on a desert island. My compilation is a concept album in a sense, centered around the emotions experienced by those in their first night on the island. It is called “To The Stars, A Fire Cried No Hiding Place.” Interpret that how you want. When you listen imagine those people and what they might be doing or thinking during each piece. The first disc is called “A Restless Sea, Before A Sleep.” It is meant to represent the shedding of their past lives. The second disc is called “A Restless Dream, Before First Breath.” It is meant to represent the conflict of savage subconscious wills against the hope of a new life and second chance. It merges alternative, prog/art rock, classical/film scores, folk music, jazz and others. Please take a listen. It is something that has to be experienced to be appreciated. So close your eyes and put on your head phones.

LJT writes: Well here is my slightly manic playlist, the aim was to include as broad a spectrum of music that is representative of moi. The flow of the music is always important to me when making a playlist and that was one of my aims when creating these desert island discs. Sections I think that work particularly well include from "We're Here" to "Little Wing" and from "Do the Whirlwind" to "Boys From School" on the first disc. The run on the second disc from "Mis-Shapes" down to "Ladyflash" I am also particularly proud of, especially considering that I managed to get "Sheep" by Pink Floyd in between some disco, hip-hop goodness. Hopefully everyone will find at least a section of my my playlists enjoyable...it may also be a love hate relationship, as I am sure as well as there being sections you love, there will be the odd one you hate. Please though, definitely check out "Emerald" by Thin Lizzy and "We Do Not Fuck Around" by Viva Voce as they are two very kick ass songs....oh vote for me and enjoy the rest

Have fun!

LJT has some really cool stuff, but Screwtape's tracklist is mindblowing, really. Very well crafted; it is probably the most eloquent complete artistic statement in the competition. Apart from my own tracklist and possibly GibsonGirl's, his is my favourite that's still in play.

PS Mods, could you please continue stickying these rounds?

I like both lists but Screwtape wins for me because of the following...

Axver said:
3. Tori Amos- “Little Earthquakes” - Little Earthquakes (6:51)
15. Duran Duran- “Come Undone [edit]” – Greatest (4:15)
16. George Michael- “Cowboys & Angels” - Listen Without Prejudice, Vol. 1 (7:15)
9. Pink Floyd- “Great Gig In The Sky” – Dark Side Of The Moon (4:44)

A beautiful, soulful and jazzy song by the very underrated George Michael, a haunting and catchy song by the also underrated Duran Duran and of course two excellent songs by Tori & Floyd.

Favorites on LJT's list...

Good luck Screwtape, may the best playlist win:up:

Unfortunately for you its mine mwahahaha:evil:

I've never had an opportunity to use the evil smiley before...I'm so happy:sad:

Likewise for yours...the second disc in particular is amazing just for the Holst inclusion:cool:

This one is really really really tough. :|

But I think I have to go with Screwtape...his playlist completely blew me away and it was different from anything I'd ever heard, and for that I think it deserves to move on to the next round.

Thanks man, and will do...I enjoy the playlist making too much:D

It's cool to see your playlist go through though, it's quite an expansive music selection, rather than a few which seem to have quite a narrow music selection.

Next time though i'm definitely including a U2 song, might save me some votes:wink:

Good luck with the rest of the competition:up:
