Please vote for the tracklisting you LIKE THE MOST.

Welcome to the second heat of the Interference Desert Island Game II! The premise of this game is that all of the Interferencers have been stranded on a desert island and we can only take up to 160 minutes of music with us (either as a continuous iPod playlist or two 80 minute CDs or any other format of our choosing). The object is to see which forum member can fit the most musical goodness into these 160 minutes.

In the first heat, GibsonGirl defeated bono_212 by a margin of 22 votes to 11. We now farewell bono_212 while GibsonGirl progresses to a quarter final against the winner of this heat.

In this heat, inmyplace13 and LemonMacPhisto meet in what could arguably be the tournament's toughest heat. Below, you will find their tracklistings. If you are unfamiliar with the songs included, we can help you hear them! Just leave your e-mail address. :)

THE TRACKLISTINGS!

inmyplace13 writes: I tried to separate my playlist into three distinct phases, each beginning with an epic post rock track and ending with one of my favorite piano driven tunes. I always think the best playlists start out with the hypnotic drumbeat of The Beatles’ “Tomorrow Never Knows,” which I unfortunately used in the last competition. Fortunately, the Love record came out, and you get to “turn off your mind” to begin my playlist once again. I didn’t seek to make this a comprehensive list of the best songs ever or to span every conceivable genre. I simply wanted to make a list that reflects what I’m listening to these days and the point I’m at in my life. I hope you enjoy it and find something new and worthwhile.

Competition master list.

Competition rules.

Slightly outdated diagram of competition format.

Have fun!

These are two of my favorite playlists in this thing, so it's really, really close. In the end though, I had to go with LMP.

The New Radicals shoutout pushed me over the edge. I love me some New Radicals.

I just love the style of imp13's tracklisting. It's really cohesive and builds a strong atmosphere. Plus, it has Slug. So that's where my vote went.

I hate this.

IMP's playlist probably my favorite other than Lance's in the entire tourney and although I love the songs I put on mine, I wish I could change about half of them now.

Normally I'd vote for myself, but like I said, this is quite the pickle.

Wow, I'm surprised this isn't insanely close. I honestly thought this was going to come close to being a draw.

I too love the flow of IMP's list, and I've discovered some new things from it that I didn't know before, so in my eyes that's a win right there.

That said, while LMP has some songs that I don't like as much, it's offset by the fact that some of my all-time favorite songs are on there, and for that, it gets my vote.

It’s hard to go past a compilation that includes such classic greats as Satisfaction, Foxey Lady, Comfortably Numb, Walk on the Wild Side, Streets, Blowin in the Wind and so many other great tracks.

LMP gets my vote
