Please vote for the tracklisting you LIKE THE MOST.

Welcome to the grand final of the Interference Desert Island Album Game! The premise of this game is that the Interference forum has been stranded on a desert island and we can take only TWO CDs of up to 80 minutes of music each. The object is to see which member of the forum can fit the most musical goodness onto these two CDs.

The winner of the second semi final was LemonMacPhisto, achieving a close victory over Bono's shades by 21 votes to 18.

And now we've reached the last round of the competition - the grand final between VertigoGal and LemonMacPhisto. Which one has packed the most musical goodness onto two CDs? Below, you will find their tracklistings. If you are unfamiliar with the songs included, we can help you hear them! Just leave your e-mail address. This poll will be open for THREE DAYS.

I like the idea of another competition. There were so many artists and songs I love that I simply didn't have room for on 2 CDs.

But if the same people do another competition, would the songs differ that much?

I should've worded that better, I meant for people competing the second time around.

It wouldn't be fun without new people! :D

If we run it again, shall we make it a different format of media? Say, a tracklisting for an MP3 player?

I wouldn't want the tracklistings to be too much longer though, as there's already plenty to listen to and compare. Maybe we could do just a straight 160 minute playlist with no CD break?

I think we should do decade cds.

or atleast pick specific 10 year periods, and make 2 cds out of that.

example:

Disc 1 - 1980-1990
Disc 2 - 1990-2000

or the straight 160 minute thing would be cool.

Why would it matter if there's a break or not? You may/may not listen to them all at once whether they were one 160 minute CD or two 80 minute CDs...

I like the idea of decade playlists. That would keep us going all summer (/winter for those on the other side of the world). There were so many songs I wanted to get on my mixes that just didn't fit. How in the world did I forget Patsy Cline, for instance? And Ella Fitzgerald?

And if I face you again, you're going down

This one's still too close for me. I need to sleep on it.

This is the best we can do?

70+ years of recorded music and this is the "creme of the crop" we'll listen to for the rest of our natural lives?

Do you people understand music didn't just "start" 10 years ago?

Sometimes black people make music?

Sometimes women make music?

All music isn't rock music?

I'm killing everyone on the island and eating them. A quick pass through my digestive system is better than a lifetime of these "mixes."

All the voters need to broaded their horizons. Alot. Their taste blows.

I almost neglected my '80s roots on my cds, and it bothers me

plus I have 100 song decade playlists on iTunes already

And Brau, I'd like to think I have a wide taste in music, but these are my favorites of that selection that I can fit in 160 minutes of music. I don't think my compilation is the best of this competition, and I'm happy I made it to this point.

If you don't like the mixes, you don't have to vote, or chastise people for not seeing eye-to-eye with you.

I agree whole-heartedly!!! I could make several discs for the 90s!  And I wouldn't mind joining in the fun this time.

Oh, lemme get this straight. Just cos your favorite collection of songs didn't win, you're insulting everybody's intelligence and music taste here?

Brau, I'm surprised at your comment. Maybe you wouldn't like to listen to either of these compilations, but there are others who would be dead happy to spend a lifetime with this stuff. It has nothing to do with how broad your horizons are. You can't ridicule a person based on personal taste.

I think it would make the tracklisting quite different - definitely would for me. I built both of my CDs around having a defined beginning, middle, and end, so not having the break in the middle would totally change the dynamics there.

Plus, of course, you couldn't go past 80 minutes per disc, so you may end up with two 78 minute discs and a 3 minute song that fits on neither but could go onto a 160 minute unbroken tracklisting.

I'd like to do something a bit more different than just removing that break, though. I was actually thinking of suggesting themes too, like the decades idea someone else proposed. Could make things very interesting ...

Why is this even relevant? When I made my tracklistings or voted on those made by others, I wasn't thinking about the sex or race of the musicians, but of how good the music sounded to my ears.

LMP pwns everyone because he has Wish You Were Here ending his collection and that's exactly how I'd feel if I were left on a desert island with these two discs.

Not "Wish I Was There".

P.S. - Brau?

6 // Michael Jackson - "Billie Jean" - Thriller (4:54)

This was when Michael was still black. Maybe instead of telling us to open our ears, you should open your eyes.
