David Gilmour - Live 2006
At last, the news many Pink Floyd fans have been eagerly awaiting! We are pleased to be able to bring you full details of David Gilmour's UK and European tour dates.

David will be touring in Spring 2006, with his 'On An Island Tour', the title coming from Gilmour’s new solo album which is released on 6 March 2006. Amongst the shows will be two UK dates - the 29th and 30th May at London’s Royal Albert Hall.

These will only be available via a website which will be available shortly - www.davidgilmour.com; following this priority booking period, tickets will then be available from 9am on Friday 9th December from:

Royal Albert Hall Box Office Tel: 020 7589 8212

OR www.davidgilmour.com.

This will be David Gilmour’s first European tour since Pink Floyd’s triumphant Division Bell tour in 1994 and his first public performance following this Summer’s Pink Floyd appearance at Live 8. He commented:

“I’m very much looking forward to this tour and making music with the great musicians in the band. I’ve had a fantastic time making ‘On An Island’ and really want to perform tracks from it, along with my more familiar repertoire. I’m rather hoping that with this tour announcement people will believe me when I say, honestly, this is the only band I plan to tour with!”

Marc Brickman, lighting genius who has worked with Gilmour on many Floyd tours, will design the lighting for the intimate venues chosen for this tour.

I hope his new solo album is more like David Gilmour or The Division Bell and less like About Face or A Momentary Lapse of Reason.

I'll second that. I don't know when last I listened to A Momentary Lapse of Reason voluntarily.

Why isn't he touring the US?

Speaking of his self titled debut, I had the cd for a while but just could not get into it and ended up selling it off. It was just too boring.

The Division Bell on the other hand is one of my favorite Floyd albums!

There's nothing like blasting The Division Bell at the highest volume possible when you're driving at night. My dad did that once when we were driving to the airport (two hours away) and it was spectacular.

While MLOR isn't among my favorite PF albums, it does include a few great tracks. On The Turning Away, Learning To Fly, and Sorrow are terrific songs.

Great to hear that Dave is getting back into it. The last interview I read from him he was not optimistic about touring/recording again.

" I’m rather hoping that with this tour announcement people will believe me when I say, honestly, this is the only band I plan to tour with!”"

Does this qoute mean just for 2006 and this album or for some indefinite period of time beyond that?

Does this really mean Willie Williams is not secretly working on a Pink Floyd stage?

I was hoping this would be about a full-on Floyd tour...Gilmour, Waters, and all.

A local magazine had an article on the Pink Floyd reunion tour rumours after Live 8, and Gilmour was quoted saying Live 8 was great fun, but "playing with Pink Floyd was like having sex with my ex-wife."
