The solo kills that song for me. A lot of people love it, but I just think it's way too much, and, in a lot of parts, doesn't fit the song well.

My favorites on ths are Cracked Actor, Panic, jean genie, Watch that Man, Drive-In Saturday, & Aladdin Sane.

I'll go with Cracked Actor this round

Aladdin Sane lets itself down in the chorus department for me. Those verses are very :drool:worthy but the chrous kinda kills it for me, doesn't sound right. Kind of agree with phil on the piano solo too. Well. Not agree but I can see where he's comin from.

Cracked Actor this round.

As long as that, DIS and WTM get in I'm happy.

Oh, but Danny, the lyrics of the chorus...

Battle cries and champagne, just in time for sunrise
Who'll love a lad insane

Oh don't get me wrong, I still think the chorus is awesome, infatti "who will love aladdin sane" is my myspace "status" at the moment. I just don't think they quite match up to the awesomeness of the verses.

This dilemma is like the opposite of what i normally encounter with Bowie. He has a habit of making fantastic hooks.

Is it absolutely meant to be taken as "a lad insane"?

By the way my VU&N review is up  I think I'll either do Wish You Were Here of Joshua Tree next.

I really didn't like Aladdin sane. That weird sound that didn't fit, I think it was piano, killed it for me

Drive-in

Who else loves the fact Drive in Saturday is about the future human race forgetting how to have sex so they have to watch old pornos to learn how :lmao:

Only monsieur bowie.

 Will read your review here in a bit. My X&Y review is up too.

Oh I am very much looking forward to reading that. Is it possible for a review to sound more coherent than the object which it is reviewing??

Apparently, yes. I thought it was one of my better efforts. Describing Fix You as "epic fail" was a high point.

Commented your review.

As I just left a comment on the review, you mentioned everything I dislike, from the genericness to the 99% falsetto, to the crap lyrics....

Sadly however I think Fix You is alright. :reject: I know, I know. Even though I know it is a major imitation, I still find myself liking it, though his lyrics "light will guide you home and ignite your bones and I will try to fix you" grate on my ears every time I listen.

I saw that and laughed heartily.

Cheers again mate, I enjoyed doing that review actually. Finding out about all that context was actually really interesting, far, far more interesting than listening to European Son. I kinda wish I'd been around to visit The Factory in it's halcyon days as well...... :shifty:

Just wished I known the word 'adhockery' before today though.

For now, I must be off, more Chem and Lit homework to do. :sigh:

Cheers! We should do this review comparing in the superthread next time, lest we derail more of these polls.

I'm surprised Cracked Actor is making it through so early, but pleased. I would have voted for it eventually.
