Depeche Mode's Gahan Plans Solo Debut, Tour

As tipped here earlier this month, Depeche Mode lead singer Dave Gahan will release his debut solo album, "Paper Monsters," June 3 via Reprise and a day earlier internationally via Mute. The 10-track album, produced by Ken Thomas (Sigur Ros), will be preceded by first single "Dirty Sticky Floors," to be released commercially May 19.

"What really hit me most was how happy and fulfilled it made me feel," Gahan said on his official Web site. "I wanted to hear something that makes me feel good. That's been the train of thought throughout this record, and Ken's been really great with that."

"The most important thing to me was that all of the songs have a sense of humour," he continued, "but at the same time a message of hope and faith." Song titles include "Hold On," "A Little Piece," "Stay," "Bitter Apple," "Bottle Living," and "She Said (Goodbye)." Gahan will begin a month-long European tour in support of the set June 5 in Zurich.

As previously reported, Depeche Mode singer/guitarist Martin Gore will release his own Mute solo set, "Counterfeit2," on April 28.
