These days in most American sports players are traded for each other and never really sold.

The contract is sold, not the player. Players are not modern slaves as they pretend to be. And in European sport, the decision is trilateral (club, player, club), in American sport it's only bilateral (club, club).
In South America some players belong to a bank or to a manager, it's weird.

This thread is about Daniel Agger, not roy keane

This picture is from July last year, when Brøndby IF won the Danish Championship. He's on the left with chief coach Michael Laudrup right next to him.

But not everytime, after the Bosman case in the 90's, a player can decide to go at another team when he wants if his contract is about to fall off, without saying nothing to his club and most of all without any payment destinated to the club he's leaving.
Anyway, it's a bussiness that do just managers, players go just where they find more money, they don't give too much care for this or that club.
