Okay, I'm probably totally oblivious to some huge joke or something, but I do live in a bubble. 
I saw u2popmofo's sig... "I've got a fever, and the only prescription is more cowbell!" and I realized I had just heard that somewhere.... my school did a lipsync contest last week, and someone definitely said that, and then this kid came out and started playing the cowbell.
Can someone please enlighten me and explain the significance of the cowbell?
