sorry, such blasphemous comments aren't allowed here!

although.... my roommate (who's an idiot) would agree with you.

Jimi - All Along The Watchtower
Annie Lennox - A Whiter Shade Of Pale

There's a wisdom in the lyrics to One when they come from JC, that Bono just didn't have in 91. I think he steals it from them. No disrespect to U2, just more respect to JC.

Without You- Harry Nilsson

The guy had a 3 1/2 octave voice. How could it not be better?

Well to prove physical tallent means nothin, Mariah Carey destroyed this fine tune in the 90's.

I prefer the Slade version myself. Though the Oasis reading is fun. They do a good My Generation as well.

I've heard the JC version of One, and I was unimpressed. The sense of yearning, desperation and warmth in Bono's vocal really cannot be topped, not even by the great Johnny Cash.

I do think Hurt is done much better by Cash.

Cash is a favorite of mine. i have the Unearthed box set, which has heart of gold on it. i know its a hugely covered song but Cash's voice really brings out the life in the song.
