And yeah, I'd say you're in the right boat for Melbourne - it's a great place if you want to do postgrad, but now that they've introduced the "Melbourne Model", I advise anybody doing undergrad to steer clear. I'm glad I got in just before the Model was introduced.
Yeah man, when I started here i was doing a Journalism/Sports Management double degree, thinking of Sports Journalism or a Sports Media role of some description. After a semester of journo I didn't like it so I changed to Communications/Sports Management, so I could major in something but have a broader media and communications degree so if I changed my mind it wasn't too late.

Now I'm thinking of Journo again, so I might double major in Journalism and Public Relations for Communication, leaving me with fingers in many pies: Journalism, Sports Journalism, PR, Radio (apparently I have a voice for radio and once I get a car/job I'll be doing some course and volunteer role), and Sports Administration/Management (applying for a PR internship with the GC Blaze atm).

Yeah. still don't know what I want to do exactly, but the sports-madness of Melbourne and the fact it is so goddamn cool makes me want to move there for either work or further study. Plus, you know, the GC is good for a while, then you get to know the real GC - tacky as fuck.

Yeah, generally if I'm down there I'll have a drink or two there. I sort of prefer The Belgian, Elephant and PJ O'Briens down the corner, though. After a while I'll probably be dragged down to Hindley or Gouger, though.

Didya know there is a suburb in London called Shirley? It's next to Upper Shirley.

*reduced to reading the London A-Z*

When I come home, I'll be hitting town in a big way. Only turned 18 in January this year and I moved here May last year so I never really have... and I'm fair excited.

Heard great things about the Belgian, and went to the Elephant pre-an Adelaide United home game last holidays, and good times were had by all.

Ah, yeah, always a good idea to have your options really open like that. I'm a History guy, and even worse, I specialise in Kiwi history, but I've got the marks and the work that I think I can turn it into a career within academia. Failing that, though, I'm also doing Political Science, so that's a nice little back-up should things go awry anywhere.

Melbourne's certainly got more substance and sense for all of that stuff too. Tacky's just the word for the Gold Coast. I mean, fucking hell, the front cover of the GC Bully tells you that every day of the week. Last I heard, it's written at the reading comprehension level of eight year olds, and seems to cater for people with about that mentality too.

Awesome. I had my first big night in town when I turned 18, always helps to have some people that know the best places around, too.

The Belgian is expensive, but the beers there are awesome, and it's always really busy. Gotta love the Elephant.
