You an afficinado of the non-Anglo pub then? (OK the Elephant is Anglo).

Eh, I just go where I like the mood, and the drinks, and where my friends can tolerate. So I don't really think about that.

Dog and Duck on Hindley is another I go to. Sometimes have a quick drink there after shitty days of tafe.

Awesome. I had my first big night in town when I turned 18, always helps to have some people that know the best places around, too.

The Belgian is expensive, but the beers there are awesome, and it's always really busy. Gotta love the Elephant.
Yeah, my high school mates going to Uni in Adelaide atm are sure to let me know where the best places are.

How old are you dude? And more importantly what school did you go to?

Pulteney here. :reject:

This is kind of weird. For once the Superthread's going on about an Aussie city that ISN'T Melbourne.

(Mr Hyphen V, the majority of Aussie Superthreaders are Melburnians/Victorians, you see.)

Fair enough.

Don't know that one, but I don't go down Hindley at all these days. There's easier and safer ways to get a drink..

I'm 19, and I went to school in Yorke Peninsula, Minlaton to be precise - that's where I grew up. My dad went to Pulteney, though.

Currently at the Roma Mitchell art school in Light Square.

Ah, yeah, always a good idea to have your options really open like that. I'm a History guy, and even worse, I specialise in Kiwi history, but I've got the marks and the work that I think I can turn it into a career within academia. Failing that, though, I'm also doing Political Science, so that's a nice little back-up should things go awry anywhere.

Melbourne's certainly got more substance and sense for all of that stuff too. Tacky's just the word for the Gold Coast. I mean, fucking hell, the front cover of the GC Bully tells you that every day of the week. Last I heard, it's written at the reading comprehension level of eight year olds, and seems to cater for people with about that mentality too.
The Bully is dreadful. I used to think the Advertiser was shithouse, and it is, but def. not on that level.

Melbourne has the best city culture of any Aussie city. Adelaide is close but it is too small, and doesn't let people know about it enough. Melbourne's vibe is as close as we can get to the NYC/London/Boston sort of thing that I envy so greatly.

Haha, no kidding. A friend of mine saw a hit and run outside of the D&D just a few weeks ago, this arsehole driver was speeding down Hindley for god's sake. But seems like Gouger's even worse nowadays. You could go for an innocent night of karaoke and get stabbed in the back instead. :crack:

Just as well that you didn't go to a private school. The "blazer scene" as I call it is a tad pathetic sometimes.

Yeah, on being called Mr Hyphen V, how do I change my username? It's very Brokeback.

Two Pulteney folk! 2 degrees of separation in this town!!!!

I DIDN'T go to Pulteney, for the record....

My high school's library got all the major papers delivered and I used to read the Bully most days before before class ... for a laugh. If you take it as unintentional comedy, it helps you deal with the reality that some morons out there actually take it seriously.

I'm shockingly under-travelled when it comes to Australia, but yeah, I fucking love Melbourne, it's my favourite city that I've ever visited (even over Boston and my beloved Wellington back home). The less said about Brisvegas and the Gold Coast the better, and does ANYBODY actually like Sydney apart from Sydneysiders?

Psh, my private high school had an awesome blazer. Then again, have you SEEN the state schools on the Gold Coast? Nobody should go there. Nobody.

Heh, I have no idea. I think you have to go through the mods, though.

Dude, Pulteney's blazers were the shit. I was a prefect so I got to wear a cream/bone/white/off-white/ivory/beige number that would make Mr. Benaud incredibly envious.

Apparently TSS has some sort of prestige and reputation about it though, even though it's no state school.

I like Sydney. Friends of mine used to live there and I loved visiting them, they lived close to the harbour on the north shore and we would drink in some flash places. And good shopping. And some of the best U2 shows I saw there....

Proud Westie state school. Yes I can spell and everything!!!!! :D
Western suburbs? Respect...

Can't wait to rock the stretch of land between West Lakes Boulevard, South Road and Oaklands road. Seaton, Glenelg, Fulham... yeah, my family, we own that shit. Compton ain't got a patch on the streets of Seaton.

If you've seen the uniform around, I went to Emmanuel College. Royal blue with yellow trim. My two favourite colours, put together well. Ever since, I've pretty much lived in blazers. Given how much crap I can carry in blazer pockets, my friends have remarked that for me, the blazer is the male answer to the handbag.

TSS are just a pack of up-themselves wankers who really aren't good at very much but think they are.

If I had been drinking, I would have spit all over my pc now.....

Sydney is OK, but Melbourne is more deserving of the international reputation that Sidaknee gets.
