What is your fav classical piece?

For me, it's Vivaldi's Four Seasons. Particularly, summer. And Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata.

And when done correctly, Pachabel's Cannon in D. Fur Elise. *sigh* So many.

And for the record, the title of this threas should read "CONNISSEURS, not CONNSISEURS" This is why we should be able to edit thread titles.

I will just raise my *glass*

becuse he has hay fever-i think, but he feels a lot better now

):

Verdi's Requiem.....goosebumps every time!
Beethoven's 7th symphony-especially the second movement...
Mendelssohn's Reformation symphony(#5?)
Ubi Caritas-I can't spell the composer's name from memory...
I've gotten into more choral music in the past 4 years...very odd for me.

Holst's The Planets has really been doing it for me lately.

I guess its not really classical but i just got the music from Ken Burns' series The Civil War...so quietly powerful, especially when u put the music to the images from the series...

My favorite is Pachabel's Cannon. I also like Bach's Jesu,Joy of Man's Desiring, and Air on G String. Beethoven;s Ode to Joy,and Moonlight Sonata, and Mozart's The Magic Flute.

I second Beethoven's 7th symphony, 2nd movement - absolutely gorgeous.

I have way too many favorite pieces (comes with being a music major in college, I guess). A few that come to mind...

Brahms German Requiem (probably my favorite choral + orchestra piece)
Brahms Piano Concerto #2
Beethoven Symphony #5
Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto #2
Barber Adagio for Strings

and much, much more!

I guess it's also considered classical:

Mozart - Requiem
Chopin's Prelude in E Minor

From Movies:
Theme from Little Women
End Credits from The Cider House Rules (this is all instrumental...so beautiful)
Henry Mancini's Theme from Love Story
Theme from Schindler's List (brings me to tears every time)
Anna's Theme (from The Red Violin)

And how could I forget? Beethoven's Sonata Pathetique!

I like classical music - sometimes when I am driving I will put on the classical station and it is so nice to drive- I dont really know much of it but I do know that I like Beethoven's Symphony #5 and a good Bach string quartet is always good

anything from the baroque period

Vivaldi's 4 seasons,Handle's water music and Firewoks suite
Adagio - Albononi - just bliss
Mozart's Requium - glorious and great to sing!
Claronet concerto - mozart, particularly 2nd movement - also Piano Concerto 21, again 2nd movement wonderful
anything by Thomas Tallis - Renaissance choral works - Tallis Scholars worth listening to!!

Anything by Mozart or Bach really - Bach's compositions for organ are just mind blowing. The Zoo Station of his time!!

Mozart and Strauss operas are great - very easy to listen to

I have eclectic tastes

Hmmm... never really listened to much, but loved to play it during my competing days.

Pretty much anything by Beethoven, particularly Moonlight Sonata.

I love Mussorsky's ( I know I"m butchering the spelling there) Great Gates.

Pachabel's Canon in D is another one...

That's what I can think of right now at 4am.

Anything Mozart. He is my favorite composer, bar none. Particular favorites include The Magic Flute (yeah Night Queen's Aria) and, of course, the Requiem Mass (my favorite section being the Lacrimose.) Mozart has also been proven to increase the ammount that one learns if listened to during studies.
