*Otis Redding--(Sittin' On the) Dock of the Bay

That one always kills me...don't know why, but it just does.

The all-time saddest song is....

"SEND IN THE CLOWNS": Stephen Sondheim's classic recorded by Frank Sinatra.

Runners-up include....

"All By Myself": Eric Carmen, Celine Dion

"Rock and Roll Dreams Come Through": Meatloaf....although it might be considered bittersweet.

"All I Know": Art Garfunkel

"How Can You Mend A Broken Heart": Bee Gees

"Luka": Suzanne Vega

"Desperado": Eagles

"In the Air Tonight": Phil Collins

"With or Without You: U2

"Then I See The Darkness": Johnny Cash

"Mind Games": John Lennon...because it makes me feel sad.

"Dream on": Aerosmith

"The Winner Takes it All: Abba

"The Difficult Kind": Sheryl Crow

"Sailing": Christopher Cross

"It's No Good": Depeche Mode

"Why": Annie Lennox

"Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin'": Journey

"Hurt": Nine Inch Nails, Johnny Cash

"Black": Pearl Jam

"Streets of Philadelphia: "Springsteen"

I wondered about adding that when I made my list. On some level it is sad, but on another level, there's a magnificent release in being able to disappear from the world, your situation, your humanness. The only thing I'm sure that "How to Disappear Completely" is, is beautiful and breathtaking. Just some food for thought. I could talk about that song all day.

that is a beautiful photo in your signature Strato Edge Caster, Strats:-)

Everybody Hurts was the first song that popped into my head re. this topic. I see a couple of other ppl feel the same and the inclusion of Annie Lennox makes me realise I must put more effort into finding a Eurythmics CD. I only have them on tape. Annie=great singer imho.

I know now why Beth Orton's "Devil Song" is so sad.
Em
I love Eminor. It always tugs very heavily on my heart strings
