i like my christmas music to have a little soul and sass in it:

bing crosby
louis prima
ella fitzgerald
lena horne
julie london
louis armstrong
etta james

my current favourite is, (aside from bing and bowie's 'little drummer boy', of course) 'dig that crazy santa claus' by ralph marterie (the original version from the 50s).

childhood favourite: snoopy's christmas, the one with the song about the red baron. classic.

umm... well, that's about it.

Strange, Little Drummer Boy (by anyone) is one of my all time most unlistenable holiday songs. I especially detest the overuse of the 'pa rumba bum bum' over and over again  The Ashlee Simpson version on TV the other night was unbearable.

Due to it being put in the background of almost every commercial this time of year I no longer like the jingling bell noises I loved as a kid :grumpy:

I like

Father Christmas by The Kinks
U2's Baby Please Come Home
John and Yoko's Merry Xmas
other traditional ones it just depends on the version

please, don no gay apparel and bring me no figgie pudding

Bah, humbug :sigh:

I actually don't mind Christmas songs at all, I just don't like hearing them for 8 weeks before the actual day.

I refuse to play any Christmas music before 6 December.
Or it has to be the aforementioned Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band version of Santa Claus Is Coming To Town
BTW, I have a Bruce Springsteen Live Christmas CD.

And oh, another suggestion:
Monty Python - Christmas In Heaven :D

C ya!

That sounds like Christmas CD that might be good for something else. :hmm:

"The Christmas Song" by Nat King Cole.

.....chestnuts roasting on an open fire......

this song is also a good one to sing your own lyrics to.....:sexywink:

Fairytale of New York is one of my favourite Christmas songs, both the version by The Pogues and the live version I've got by Christy Moore.

I also like:
Carol of the Bells - The London Symphony Orchestra
Do They Know it's Christmas (the 1984 version, of course ) - Band-Aid
So this is Christmas (War is Over) - John Lennon
Christmas (Baby Come Home) - U2
Christmas Day - The Scared Weird Little Guys

Plus some of the songs from Tripod's Christmas shows:
It's Christmas time - which is about Christmas in Australia to the tune of Do They Know it's Christmas
Plastic Surgery for Christmas
Little Drummer Boy - which turns out being about an Australia ex-variety television host

Has anybody ever heard that Iron Man parody, "I Am Santa Claus?"

"Fairytale of New York" - The Pogues
"Father Christmas" - The Kinks
"Christmas Eve (Sarajevo)" - Trans-Siberian Orchestra
"Christmas (Baby, Please Come Home)" - U2
"Do They Know It's Christmas" - Band-Aid (original, haven't heard the new one)
"Do You Hear What I Hear" - Whitney Houston (yeah, that's right)

gerrrrrrrrr.......that's all I can think of right, now. My favorite Christmas carol is probably "O Come All Ye Faithful"
