Chain lyrics GAME...

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Monavox had the lyric"Stop" I extrapolated from there...

Stop dragging my heart around

Theres people running 'round loose in the world
Ain't got nothing better to do
Make a meal of some bright eyed kid....

I must learn to use the quote function one day. My lyric was in response to Mona's previous lyric, inspired by the word STOP

a bit o Charlatans..

when honesty is mine to ride
a gem dissolving shadowslide
down you better not drown
what are you going to do when the sky
falls out of this world

Drowned; Quadrophenia via Pete at the Secret Policeman's Ball

Let me flow into the ocean
Let me get back to the sea
Let me stormy and let me be calm
Let the tide in, and set me free

I want to drown, I want to drown
In your sweet, sweet love

all this time love's been a habit
all this time i've had to have it
no relationship has been adequate
getting intimate, it's been a no-no
but now i'm free, free to go places
do you wanna marry me
soft white sheets
is this the dream sequence
no hurry up and wait

a crazy mention for a friend of mine
he wanted to be here but he didn't have the time
a crazy notion from an enemy
she wanted to be here but she wouldn't fly

i'm down with you, i'm into you yeah
attuned to you, intuitive you yeah
i'm down with you, i'm into you yeah
in tune with you, in tune with you

bob's got scruples and belle's hard work
meryl's in pieces but richard's gotta work
syd's got sugarshock and todd's in hock
piers in heaven now and daddy's on top

i'm down with you, i'm into you yeah
attuned to you, intuitive you yeah
i'm down with you, i'm into you yeah
in tune with you, in tune with you

all this time i've been an addict
all these years i've been in panic
all these tears steamy soap opera
now i'm free to live

i'm down with you, i'm into you yeah
attuned to you, intuitive you yeah
i'm down with you, i'm into you yeah
in tune with you, in tune with you

The Proclaimers

We've been together too long to be vague
When there's something to say
If it's not now, then it's never
So I'll say it straight out
Cos I have no doubt
Let's get married
I love you and I want to stay with you
Let's get married
Have kids, grow old and gray with you
Let's get married
Hold hands, walk in the park
You can get a cat as long as it barks
We know other people who drifted apart
Who broke each other's hearts
But we ain't other people
So we'll do things our way
We're gonna be OK
We're gonna be more than OK
Let's get married
We're ready for tying the knot
Let's get married
Set the seal on the feelings we've got
Let's get married
We can make each other happy or we can make each other blue
Yeah, it's just a piece of paper but it says I love you
For the good times
For the days we can do no wrong
For the bad times
For the moments we think we can't go on
For the family
For the lives of the children that we've planned
Let's get married
C'mon darling, please take my hand
And I'll be the one who's by your side
I'll be the one, still taking pride
When we're old if they ask me "How do you define success?"
I'll say, "You meet a woman
You fall in love
You ask her and she says yes"

What are you on, and when do you get off?
I ask how you are, and you just get lost.
You were completely done with love.
I was completely undone by love.

I was the hunger,
And you were the famine.
And that was
What happened.

HUNGER

I said I?d be your lover.
You laughed at what I said.
I lost my job forever.
I was counted with the dead.....

And when the hunger for your touch
Rises from the hunger,
You whisper, "You have loved enough,
Now let me be the Lover."

Something in the way she moves
Attracts me like no other lover,
Something in the way she woos me.
I don't want to leave her now,
You know I believe and how.

Somewhere in her smile she knows
That I don't need no other lover,
Something in her style that shows me.
I don't want to leave her now,
You know I believe and how.
You're asking me will my love grow
I don't know, I don't know
You stick me around now, it may show,
I don't know, I don't know

Something in the way she knows
And all I have to do is think of her,
Something in the things she shows me.
I don't want to leave her now,
You know I believe and how.

Red, red wine goes to my head,
Makes me forget that I still need her so

Red, red wine, it's up to you
All I can do I've done
Memories won't go, memories won't go

Life is fine every time,
Thoughts of you leave my head
I was wrong, now I find
Just one thing makes me forget

Red, red wine, stay close to me
Don't let me be alone
It's tearing apart my blue heart

jane siberry

red high heels
is the way I feels
got the sways and reels
going home
red high heels
and the church bells peal
cross the snowy fields
going home

song by mal eastick, former band mate of andy durant..Aussie, Aussie ,Aussie

I've spent years on the highway
I've spent a life driving through the night
I've got to move on to make my pay
I've got to chase that driving light

Iride shotgun with danger
Inevercould see the warning signs I've got a love I can't cage her
She's been alone now, time after time

It's a crazy life in the city
I knew I couldn't let it hold me down
Guess I'm in love with the company
With that guitar and it's lonesome sound
My baby needs me. i know it
I dream of her through town after town
I love the nightlife, I can't quit
But I love to be homeward bound

Yes I'm almost there
I see lights up ahead
Yes I'm going home tonight

I dedicate this to all the girls who wait...and wait, the "rock n roll widows" who keep the home fires burning, so beautifully,so brightly.

This thread rocks!!

Can we get it past 500?

Times have changed and times are strange
Here I come , But I ain't the same
Mama, I'm Coming Home
Times gone by seem to be
You could have been a better friend to me
Mama, I'm Coming Home
Took me in and you drove me out
Yeah, you had me hypnotized
Lost and found and turned around
By the fire in your eyes
You made me cry, told me lies
But, I can't stand to say goodbye
Mama, I'm Coming Home
I could be right, I could be wrong
Hurts so bad, it's been so long
Mama, I'm Coming Home
Selfish love yeah we're both alone
The ride before a fall
But I'm gonna take this heart of stone
I just got to have it all
I've seen your face a hundered times
Everyday we've been apart
I don't care about the sunshine, yeah
'Cause Mama, Mama, I'm Coming Home
I'm Coming Home
You took me in and you drove me out
Yeah, you had the hypnotised
Lost and found and turned around
By the fire in your eyes
I've seen your face a hundered times
Everyday we've been apart
I don't care about the sunshine, yeah
'Cause Mama, Mama, I'm Coming Home
I'm Coming Home

I can't resist this opportunity to tell a tale

I made a dear friend along the way.He used to be the drummer in quite a successful Aussie band. They had some big hits and the lead singer and guitarist are still touring "The Radiators" They had some naughty songs, but it was the old days eh?But I love Bucko's guts for lotsa reasons, one big one...he gave me my chihuahua

"I'm Comin' Home Babe" by the Radiators
Unlock the door
and light the light
My head is filled with sweet desire
slip into something comfortable...
.....I'm making my way home to you

DON'T WORRY
it's all right
i'll be coming home to see you tonight
DON"T WORRY
it's OK
I;ll be coming home to see you coming home to see
comin' home to see you
TODAY
I'm coming home babe....
big guitar solo.......wawwaawawawwaaaaawa
   :combust:

I enjoyed that!! I'm exhausted.
Hub and Bucko and the band recorded some original songs on a live studio album. Most of Bucko's songs are about how much he loves women..eg. "dancin' legs, doin' twirls..flyin' skirts, I'm so glad they invented girls.." simple lovely man.
But one of the songs "paula was a punk rocker" (about a british back packer) mentions..
U2!
i'll find some connection to sing it here one day:macdevil:

Don't worry baby
No need to fight
Don't worry baby
We'll be alright

This is the noise that keeps me awake
My head explodes and my body aches
Push it, make the beats go harder
Push it, make the beats go harder

Well its been building up inside of me
For oh I don't know how long
I don't know why
But I keep thinking
Something's bound to go wrong
But she looks in my eyes
And makes me realize
And she says "Don't worry baby"
Don't worry baby
Don't worry baby
Everything will turn out alright
Don't worry baby
Don't worry baby
Don't worry baby

Have I ever told you
How good it feels to hold you?
It isn't easy to explain
And though I'm really trying
I think I may start crying
My heart can't wait another day
When you touch me I've just got to say

Baby, I love you

I can't live without you
I love everything about you
I can't help it if I feel this way
And I'm so glad I found you
I want my arms around you
I love to hear you call my name
Tell me, Baby, that you feel the same

Baby, I love you

My heart can't wait another day
When you touch me I've just got to say

Baby, I love you

the queen of soul

If you want my lovin
If you really do
Don't be afra-aid bab-ay
Just ask me
Ya know I'm gonna give it to you

Oh and I do declare (I do)
I wanna see you with it
Stretch out your arms little boy
Your gonna get it
Cause I love you-oo
(Baby, baby, baby I love you)
There ain't no doubt about it
Baby I lo-ove you
(Baby, baby, baby I love you)
I love you, I love you, I love you
I love you, baby I love you

Trixter!!!!

Well Hey Hey baby tell me what's your name
From the way you look and the way you dress
I can tell you ain't got no shame

And that's alright
'Cause I'm just a man

You say you're from the city
And it all moves so fast
Got your fancy cars and your diamond rings
You don't need a love to last

and that's alright,
'Cause I'm just a man

So take me home tonight
Like you know that you should
When you're ready to be bad
Just give it-Give it to me good

Me I'm just a rocker
Ain't got much to say
I never did things by the rules
Always did things my way

And that's alright
'Cause that's the way I am anyway

My father was a teacher
And he taught me how to live
He said "Son, you gotta be someone-
Not takin' more than you give"

And that's alright
That's the way I am Palio

So take me home tonight
Like you know that you should
When you're ready to be bad
Just give it

Give it Give it to me good

Now that we're together
I'm gonna show you a thing or two
Hey girl you got a lot to learn
I'm gonna take you to my school
And make you feel alright

'Cause I'm a man-I'm a man
Give it to me good

Give it Give it to me good

When you're down and troubled
and you need a helping hand
and nothing, whoa nothing is going right.
Close your eyes and think of me
and soon I will be there
to brighten up even your darkest nights.

You just call out my name,
and you know whereever I am
I'll come running, oh yeah baby
to see you again.
Winter, spring, summer, or fall,
all you have to do is call
and I'll be there, yeah, yeah, yeah.
You've got a friend.

If the sky above you
should turn dark and full of clouds
and that old north wind should begin to blow
Keep your head together and call my name out loud
and soon I will be knocking upon your door.
You just call out my name and you know where ever I am
I'll come running to see you again.
Winter, spring, summer or fall
all you got to do is call
and I'll be there, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Hey, ain't it good to know that you've got a friend?
People can be so cold.
They'll hurt you and desert you.
Well they'll take your soul if you let them.
Oh yeah, but don't you let them.

You just call out my name and you know wherever I am
I'll come running to see you again.
Oh babe, don't you know that,
Winter spring summer or fall,
Hey now, all you've got to do is call.
Lord, I'll be there, yes I will.
You've got a friend.
You've got a friend.
Ain't it good to know you've got a friend.
Ain't it good to know you've got a friend.
You've got a friend.

You and I must make a pact, we must bring salvation back
Where there is love, I'll be there

I'll reach out my hand to you, I'll have faith in all you do
Just call my name and I'll be there

I'll be there to comfort you,
Build my world of dreams around you, I'm so glad that I found you
I'll be there with a love that's strong
I'll be your strength, I'll keep holding on

Let me fill your heart with joy and laughter
Togetherness, well that's all I'm after
Whenever you need me, I'll be there
I'll be there to protect you, with an unselfish love that respects you
Just call my name and I'll be there

Isn't James sweet?

Well the sun is surely sinking down
And the moon is slowly rising
So this old world must still be spinning 'round
And I still love you

So close your eyes
You can close your eyes
it's all right
I don't know no love songs
and I can't sing the blues anymore
But I can sing this song
And you can sing this song
when i'm gone

It won't be long before another day
We gonna have a good time
And no one is gonna take that time away
You can stay just as long as you like

"I still love you"....the last lyric Freddie Mercury sang to camera, (that I know of) :sigh:  :)
I still love you..

Love Boat Captain...great fookin tune!

is this just another day, this god forgotten place
first comes love and then comes pain, let the games begin
questions rise and answers fall, insurmountable
love boat captain, take the reigns and steer us towards the clear, here
it's already been sung, but it can't be said enough
all you need is love
is this just another phase? of earthquakes making waves
trying to shake the cancer off? oh, stupid human beings
once you hold the hand of love, it's all surmountable
hold me and make it the truth
that when all is lost there'll be you
cuz to the universe, i don't mean a thing
and there is just one word i still believe
and it's love...
it's an art to live with pain, mix the light into grey
lost nine friends we'll never know, two years ago today
and if our lives became too long, would it add to our regret?
and the young they can lose hope
cuz they can't see beyond today...
the wisdom that the old can't give away, hey
constant recoil
sometimes life don't leave you alone
hold me and make it the truth
that when all is lost there will be you
cuz to the universe, i don't mean a thing
and there is just one word and i still believe
and it's love... love, love, love, love
love boat captain, take the reigns, steer us towards the clear
i know it's already been sung, it can't be said enough
love is all you need... all you need is love
love, love...

    Hey...I missed all of you....no internet for a week....glad to see this thread is still rockin'!! Love Autumn

as they pulled you out of the oxygen tent
you asked for the latest party
with your silicone hump and your ten inch stump
dressed like a priest you was
tod browning's beast you was
crawling down the alley on your hands and knees
i'm sure you're not protected, cuz it's plain to see
the diamond dogs are poachers and they hide behind trees
hunt you to the ground they will, mannequins with kill appeal

(will they come?)
i'll keep a friend serene
(will they come?)
oh baby, come unto me
(will they come?)
well, she's come, been and gone.
come out of the garden, baby
you'll catch your death in the fog
young girl, they call them the diamond dogs
young girl, they call them the diamond dogs

the halloween jack is a real cool cat
and he lives on top of manhattan chase
the elevator's broke, so he slides down a rope
onto the street below, oh tarzie, go man go

meet his little hussy with his ghost town approach
her face is sans feature, but she wears a dali brooch
sweetly reminiscent, something mother used to bake
wrecked up and paralysed, diamond dogs are sableized

(will they come?)
i'll keep a friend serene
(will they come?)
oh honey, come unto me
(will they come?)
well, she's come, been and gone.
come out of the garden, baby
you'll catch your death in the fog
young girl, they call them the diamond dogs
young girl, they call them the diamond dogs

oo-oo-ooh, they call them the diamond dogs
oo-oo-ooh, they call them the diamond dogs

in the year of the scavenger, the season of the bitch
sashay on the boardwalk, scurry to the ditch
just another future song, lonely little kitsch
there's gonna be sorrow try and wake up tomorrow

(will they come?)
i'll keep a friend serene
(will they come?)
oh baby, come unto me
(will they come?)
well, she's come, been and gone.
come out of the garden, baby
you'll catch your death in the fog
young girl, they call them the diamond dogs
young girl, they call them the diamond dogs

ooh, they call them the diamond dogs
ooh, they call them the diamond dogs
bow-wow, woof woof
they call them the diamond dogs, call them, call them
call them the diamond dogs
they call them the diamond dogs

keep cool
diamond dogs rule, okay
hey-hey-hey-hey

beware of the diamond dogs...

Hey..Khanada...gotta love that Bowie!!

Picture yourself in a boat on a river
With tangerine trees and marmalade skies
Somebody calls you, you answer quite slowly
A girl with kaleidoscope eyes

Cellophane flowers of yellow and green
Towering over your head
Look for the girl with the sun in her eyes
And she's gone

Lucy in the sky with diamonds

Follow her down to a bridge by a fountain
Where rocking horse people eat marshmallow pies
Everyone smiles as you drift past the flowers
That grow so incredibly high

Newspaper taxis appear on the shore
Waiting to take you away
Climb in the back with you head in the clouds
And you're gone

Lucy in the sky with diamonds

Picture yourself on a train in a station
With plasticine porters with looking glass ties
Suddenly someone is there at the turnstile
The girl with kaleidoscope eyes

joan baez wrote this about bob dylan--great song

Well I'll be damned
Here comes your ghost again
But that's not unusual
It's just that the moon is full
And you happened to call
And here I sit
Hand on the telephone
Hearing a voice I'd known
A couple of light years ago
Heading straight for a fall

As I remember your eyes
Were bluer than robin's eggs
My poetry was lousy you said
Where are you calling from?
A booth in the midwest
Ten years ago
I bought you some cufflinks
You brought me something
We both know what memories can bring
They bring diamonds and rust

Well you burst on the scene
Already a legend
The unwashed phenomenon
The original vagabond
You strayed into my arms
And there you stayed
Temporarily lost at sea
The Madonna was yours for free
Yes the girl on the half-shell
Would keep you unharmed

Now I see you standing
With brown leaves falling around
And snow in your hair
Now you're smiling out the window
Of that crummy hotel
Over Washington Square
Our breath comes out white clouds
Mingles and hangs in the air
Speaking strictly for me
We both could have died then and there

Now you're telling me
You're not nostalgic
Then give me another word for it
You who are so good with words
And at keeping things vague
Because I need some of that vagueness now
It's all come back too clearly
Yes I loved you dearly
And if you're offering me diamonds and rust
I've already paid

on the topic of being "paid"

Your lovin' give me a thrill
But your lovin' don't pay my bill.
Now gimme money THAT'S WHAT I WANT
That's what I want THAT'S WHAT I WANT
That's what I want, ye-ye-yeh,
That's what I want.

Money don't get everything it's true.
What it don't get I can't use.
So gimme money THAT'S WHAT I WANT
A little money THAT'S WHAT I WANT
That's what I want, ye-ye-yeh,
