A reading from the Gospel of U2, according to Bono.
(Glory to you, O Lord.)

EDGE: In the midst of dark romance, "Acrobat" has a bit of venom about it. It's in the bitter, John Lennon tradition of "Working Class Hero," slightly snarling and cynical. It never became a live favourite, maybe because I don't think that is what people come to U2 for. But I really like it.

BONO: "Acrobat" is one of my favorite U2 songs although it doesn't quite get off the ground the way I'd hoped it would. It has a kind of manifesto in there somewhere. Don't believe what you hear, don't believe what you see, if you just close your eyes, you can feel the enemy. It is a song about your own spleen, your own hypocrisy, your own ability to change shape and take on the colours of whatever environment you're in, like a chameleon. I must be an acrobat, to talk like this and act like that.

The Gospel of the Lord.
(Praise to you, Lord Bono Vox.)
That was great, Pee Fan.

Also, I never thought I'd say this about an Edge quote, as he's the one U2 member I really respect, but that's just fucking daft. Come ON. Dude, you guys performed Wire and God Part II! They're much more cynical!

"Who buys U2 records anyway? It's just music for plumbers and bricklayers. Bono, what a slob. You'd think with all that climbing about he does, he'd look real fit and that. But he's real fat, y'know. Reminds me of a soddin' mountain goat."
"And as for Bono, he needs a colostomy bag for his mouth."

That being said, "the whole of Interference" would probably end up wanting: a) Beautiful Day b) One or c) Mercy.
Someone (I think discothequeLP) maintains that Mercy is the greatest song ever recorded.

He says "live favourite" like they played it a few times and didn't like it.

Also, Bono says Acrobat is a song about your own spleen. I like that.

I thought they'd love a cat. The pot's not out already and the stove isn't on?

(Yes, I'm pushing it with that, but I know you'll take it in the right spirit.)

Yeah, discothequeLP sounds right.

Then again, I can't talk, I rank Wild Irish Rose in U2's top ten.

Maybe he got a copy of the Hershey boot and like many people over the years thought it was the public rehearsal, not the private one!

Yeah, that just totally changes the way I think about Acrobat. That cracks me up.

Did you read how they picked the Joshua Tree tracklisting, or do I need to break out the Gospel again?

Or at least cut off his fingers for use in seasoning tomorrow's delicious Malay stir fry.

I've heard it's the rankings by ... some woman, I forget who, who clearly has no taste in music. I swear to God, it better be wrong.
